  1. Swinney Mourvedre Rose 2023
    Swinney Mourvedre Rose 2023
Drawn from dry-grown, bush vines on the ironstone gravel hilltop of their Powderbark vineyard.  It’s rosé that’s built from the ground up, born from the same level of viticultural detail that goes into all their wines. Seasoned with a little Grenache and Vermentino, co-fermented naturally and elevated in old oak, the result is pale and precise, textural and savoury with the inherent drinkability that lies at the heart of every great rosé.

  2. Domaine Gueissard Papilles Provence Rose 2021
Domaine Gueissard Papilles Provence Rose 2021

30% each Mourvédre, Grenache, Syrah and 10% Cinsault. Screwcap.
Great value for AOP Côtes de Provence given the continued upward price climb of this appellation.

A direct nose of brine and flint and grapefruit.  Drive and power upfront with orange zest and pink grapefruit flavours, though gives way to the more classic Provence experience of strawberries, cream and garrigue herbs as it washes over the palate.  A decent saline lick runs throughout; has individualism among a crowded field with enough freshness and punch to stand out.

    Domaine Gueissard Bandol Rose 2022

    60% Mourvédre, 30% Cinsault, 10% Grenache. Screwcap.

The most classically Bandol release we've seen from this young gun, new wave producer - for us, driving flintiness is what defines the rosés of this region and sees them regarded as pinnacle expressions, with that character here in spades.  The nose leaps out with cream, florals and cut passionfruit, the palate woven with quince, guava, red currants and again, passionfruit.  Length, complexity and presence here though super refreshing all the way through.

Domaine d’Eole Coteaux d’Aix en Provence Rose 2022

55% Grenache blended with Cinsault, Carignan, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cournoise.  Certified organic.  Long, vinous and sappy.

"How much does importer Felix Riley love rosato!
Peach, blood orange, redcurrant, rosehip and dried flowers, a little nutmeg and spice, and a smattering of smoky dried herb.  It's crisp, sports a little blood orange bitterness, a fine milky/chalky texture, peach skin and citrus tang, a little leesy creaminess, and a tight and sappy finish of good length.  Classic Provence. 5. Solis Cotes de Provence Rose 2022
Solis Cotes de Provence Rose 2022

Solis Rose. This is the summer wine we have been waiting for. This is one of the best value Provence rose we have seen in some time and that is saying something given how much good pink is in the market at the moment.

This is pretty classic stuff in all the best ways. A touch of fresh strawberry, snappy red currants, white pepper, a touch of fairy-floss lift and oh-so-inviting sweetly floral nose. It follows with that same wild strawberry and red berry fruit all fleshy and bright with a rim of citrus peel and quartzy-like minerality edging. It punches way above its weight here and while it will go down a treat on a warms summers day its equally at home paired with any BBQ fair you might want to throw at it.
