Chateau du Rouet Cuvee Reserve Cotes de Provence Rose 2021 375ml
Never judge a book buy it's cover right? Mostly, you see the colour of this and you at least know you are on good footing to begin with. It's pale, like a blush of peach. Properly dry with a splash of sweet citrus, mandarin, ripe red grapefruit, a just tart orange aspect and then some lovely peach notes. All this is underpinned by a bright, clear, palate cleansing freshness and a nice pithy texture that licks at the sides of your mouth. It's long and energising, it both slackens the thirst with its buoyant, uplifting feel and engages the old taste buds and sets the salivary glands quivering. Who doesn't love Rose like this? It's so enjoyable to drink. ROSCOE

  2. Domaine Ott Clos Mireille Coeur de Grain Rose 2021
Domaine Ott Clos Mireille Coeur de Grain Rose 2021
Pale orange. Displays an array of intensely perfumed red berry and citrus fruit aromas. Along with suggestions of honeysuckle, nectarine and fennel. Juicy and seamless in texture, giving deep pit fruit and raspberry flavors and a bracing touch of orange pith. Echoes the floral note on a wonderfully long, smooth finish that leaves a hint of honey behind. JOSH RAYNOLDS

This is a wine of slick fruit, beautifully framed with the finest spiderweb of gently prying phenolics. Jubilant, lively and uber refreshing with a solid punch of red grapefruit and tart red fruits that just sing along the superbly long and overtly mineral finish. It's so refreshing and so buoyant (how can you tell the difference between a girl ant and a boy ant?... if it sinks it's a girl ant, if it floats its…) that it leaves your mouth kind of quivering. This is one of the more radiant and bright expressions of this site I can recall. Man, cooler, longer vintages are a welcome trend. ROSCOE

  3. Figuiere IGP Mediterranee Rose 2021 1500ml
Figuiere IGP Mediterranee Rose 2021 1500ml

Pale orange-pink. Redcurrant, orange zest and subtle floral and herbal elements on the fragrant nose. Made in a juicy, forward style, offering sappy red fruit and spice flavors that show good heft and breadth. A spicy white pepper note adds bite to a smooth and nicely persistent finish. JOSH RAYNOLDS, Vinous

Figuiere is a renowned family estate faithful to their terroir and region but also curious and innovative. Always in a will to produce the best wines, the Combard family originally from Chablis, is constantly searching between tradition and innovation, to be able to reach everyone with their products, from the small fresh wines to be tasted in summer to the great vintage that will sublimate all the tables.

This cuvée is the result of a rigorous selection of wines whose blending and maturing are finalized with real know-how in the cellars of the Domaine Figuière. This rosé is a blend of different grape varieties: Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Cabernet.

  4. Chateau du Rouet Cuvee Reserve Cotes de Provence Rose 2022
Chateau du Rouet Cuvee Reserve Cotes de Provence Rose 2022
A lovely lift of red cherries, pomegranate and white nectarines leads into a fleshy and textured core. Subtle herbal tones of fennel and dried thyme and wild strawberries join in the chorus too. There's presence and intensity thanks to the riper 2022 vintage, balanced by a spine of chalky acidity. Pleasing phenolics on the finish add a tantalising chew, like biting through peach skins. A hint of white pepper to finish adds a twist (reminds me of adding pepper to strawberries, shouldn't work but it does!). Keep this delightful thirst slaker on hand this summer. GABRIELLE POY, PWS

Around 60% Grenache with 30% Cinsault and a touch of the traditional Tibourenc grape the harvests are done at night to maintain freshness and the light maceration’s performed in temperature-controlled tanks to help maintain a wonderful lift to the wines. This results in a complex Rose that skirts the line beautifully between the richer Rose’s of Bandol but with the more delicate hand of Provence. PWS

  5. Mutual Promise Nebbiolo Rose 2022
    Mutual Promise Nebbiolo Rose 2022
Nebbiolo has to be the ultimate rose' varietal. Tart and textural, refreshing and regal. Fruit sourced from the  Alpine Valley this year, it had a distinctive and pleasing wild strawberry aromatic in the winery. Slow and  natural fermentation in tank to preserve the aromatics. Left with a barely perceptible touch of residual sugar  to balance the tart natural acidity and generous yet finely shaped tannins as a finished wine it still has the  wild red fruits but has also developed refreshing amaro and grapefruit characters.

  7. Honorio Rubio 'Tremendus' Clarete 2021
    Honorio Rubio 'Tremendus' Clarete 2021

50/50 Viura i Garnacha, co-fermented and aged on lees in stainless after a simple cool fermentation. The Viura and Garnacha are picked, destemmed and macerated together for 2-3 days. Fermentation starts with the skins, but after a day or two the fermenting must is separated by gravity, un-pressed. The young Clarete spends up to a week on gross lees, and is then decanted and aged 6-9 months on fine lees. The lees are compacted by a small amount of bentonite. No further fining or filtration takes place before bottling.

The look is a lustrous, vibrant see-through ('Clar' or clear being the defining thing!) raspberry pink. It's a nose of rose, red flower petals, ruby grapefruit and a builder's lime whack of chalky soil aroma. A hit of anis-scented Saké. Fresh and crunchy with good acidity, it's chalky on entry, opens easily and closes with a delicately phenolic rim, inflected with wild strawberry and a pink grapefruit-pomelo dollop. Herbs and flowers somewhere between thyme flowers and gardenia stem - run a line throughout.

  8. Capcanes Mas Donis Rosat de Garnacha 2021 1500ml
Capcanes Mas Donis Rosat de Garnacha 2021 1500ml

75% Garnatxa, with 5% Syrah and 10% Merlot. 10% of Lasendal Tinto is free run bled after 8 hours' skin contact.

A beautiful Garnatxa Tinto in miniature ... It's everything about the berry but lighter, fresher and zippier. Beautiful red fruits of the forest with an appley crunch, a light wave of Montsant's limestone soils and delicate fruit tannins in a nice buzzing herbal register ... Mas Donís pink has a lovely juicy and refreshing primary feel without any sugar heft. It fits and sits right in the middle of the palate, leaving a perfect amount of space - an invitation to be completed with riotous chat-and-chew action. Well cut with earthy acidity, the rosehip and maraschino palate is vibrant and has very neat lines.

  9. Domaine Gueissard Papilles Provence Rose 2021
Domaine Gueissard Papilles Provence Rose 2021

30% each Mourvédre, Grenache, Syrah and 10% Cinsault. Screwcap.
Great value for AOP Côtes de Provence given the continued upward price climb of this appellation.

A direct nose of brine and flint and grapefruit.  Drive and power upfront with orange zest and pink grapefruit flavours, though gives way to the more classic Provence experience of strawberries, cream and garrigue herbs as it washes over the palate.  A decent saline lick runs throughout; has individualism among a crowded field with enough freshness and punch to stand out.
