  1. Fontaleoni Rosato Condorino IGT Toscana 2020
Fontaleoni Rosato Condorino IGT Toscana 2020

Fontaleoni is a family estate run by brother and sister team, Matteo and Simona Troiani, with a little help from consultant Paolo Caciorgna. They've succeeded in producing a range that is emblematic of the best of what the region has to offer with particular emphasis on Vernaccia.

Like all their wines they get the primo treatment in the winery. A blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Merlot this presents with a top note of rose-petal, plum, and wild cranberry. Its bright and crunchy mouthfeel gives way to soft red fruits and that sangiovese sour cherry we all know and love. I don't know why we don't see more sangiovese base rose as they seem to get that balance of savoury and sweet so well, especially when they are pink.

  2. Bodegas Frontio ‘Corneo’ Juan Garcia Rosado 2020
Bodegas Frontio ‘Corneo’ Juan Garcia Rosado 2020

This comes from a tinly vineyard of 80yo goblet-pruned, organic Juan García planted in gravel and granitic sand at 710 metres altitude.

This is a perfumed, incredibly interesting dry pink. Woody like last year’s old red apples, and indeed a tad cider sour, it’s delicately floral, with orchard smells, apple tree leaves, madder rose, hibiscus. The palate is incredibly fresh, brimming sweet-and-sour and ending with the chalky grip of stony minerality and neat fruit acid. The long, squeaky finish follows a gentle savoury fruit heart. Never strict, it’s light and has excellent linger and sliding release despite the utter absence of fructose or fill. The memory of raspberry nothingness in the mouth; a touch of wildness, only bordering on unhinged! SCOTT WASLEY, The Spanish Acquisition

  3. Saint Max 'Max' Rose Mediterranee 2020
Saint Max 'Max' Rose Mediterranee 2020

Made from vineyards located in the Luberon and the Bouches du Rhone this descendant of Saint Max is made from 30% Grenache, 30% Caladoc, 30% Merlot, 10% Syrah. 100% de-stemmed grapes followed by direct pressing in pneumatic presses and given a short skin contact to ensure a pale and bright hue as well as an intense aromatic expression. Cool fermentation in tank at 15c with no malo in order to preserve the natural acidity and freshness of the wine’s aromas. Ageing on fine lees in tanks for 2 months then early bottling in December of the year of harvest.
