  1. Oakridge LVS Willow Lake Chardonnay 2018 375ml
Oakridge LVS Willow Lake Chardonnay 2018 375ml

Winemaker and CEO David Bicknell has proved his worth time and again as an extremely talented winemaker. JAMES HALLIDAY

What is there to say about this superb Yarra Valley winery. Headed up by Dave Bicknell it feels like they can do no wrong. Everything they make from top to bottom is deftly put together and sourced from the Yarra's best vineyards. The quality is always outstanding and the LVS (local vineyard series) is some of the best value Pinot and Chardonnay around. PWS

I’ve probably said it before, and anyone who knows me knows I’m prone to repeating myself, but what a lovely evocative name it is for a vineyard.

It doesn’t need any styling products; there’s not a hair out of place here. White peach and lime, green melon, almond nougat, a whisper of struck match and spice. Smooth and flavoursome, a subtle viscosity interlaid with chalk and flint, some floral mouth-perfume, slight tweak to the finish with citrus rind and grapefruit tang. Right proper Chardonnay here. 2. Gunderloch Rothenberg Riesling Auslese 2021 375ml
Gunderloch Rothenberg Riesling Auslese 2021 375ml

The 2021 Rothenberg Riesling Auslese is based on pink- and violet-colored overripe but healthy grapes. The nose is brilliantly clear and spicy, with fine raisin aromas intertwined with candied grapefruit and fully ripe mirabelles. Round, lush and intense on the palate, this is a very refined and concentrated, saline and savory Auslese with delicate bitters on the well-structured finish that is a gorgeous reflection of the Rothenberg terroir. Beautifully clear and saline. 7% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. STEPHAN RHEINHARDT, wineadvocate.com

A very concentrated, racy and totally focused riesling Auslese that literally takes your breath away. All the freshness of a beautifully ripe pink grapefruit combined with a slew of floral honey and wet stone minerality. Staggering freshness at the whiplash finish! From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Limited production. Drink or hold. Screw cap. STUART PIGGOT, jamessuckling.com

  3. Gueguen Chablis 2020 375ml
    Gueguen Chablis 2020 375ml
Celine Gueguen Brocard and Frederic Gueguen are a refreshing new voice amongst the mineral soils of Chablis. Though their experience runs deep. Celine is the daughter of Jean-Marc Brocard, the respected Chablis estate where she worked with her husband Frederic for over a decade.

Winegrowing runs in Celine's blood. Plots from her great grandmother established in 1882 have been passed down the line to her. Her mother, also a wine grower instilled a strong work ethic in her daughter. To say wine ran in the family is an understatement.

That classic stoney-Chablis-esq vibe here. Why do we mentione that because a warming climates and changing syle doesn't always present but here it does. Nice balance with the fresh white tree fruits cut by a saline line of acicidity and sprinkled with a little white pepper, quartzy thing going on. Nice little push of fruit out the back with loveley virbancy and purity offset with a little leesy funk.

  4. Cuilleron Le Lombard Marsanne 2020
    Cuilleron Le Lombard Marsanne 2020

100% Marsanne oldest vines 1967, most mid-late 1980s, from sanded granite soils
shiny yellow; the bouquet carries a grapey air, smokiness, white tobacco, lemon peel, has a little Riesling petrol tone within. The palate gives a fluid run of crushed white fruits, compote style, hints of vanilla, holding well into a stylish close. It's articulate St Jo blanc, on a trail of refinement, reserve. It deserves a fine table, carries interest, is worth studying. It can develop its second half a little more. 13.5° (4 stars) JOHN LIVINGSTONE LEARMONTH

  5. Pieropan Soave 2021 375ml
    Pieropan Soave 2021 375ml

Pieropan remains one of the greatest estates in Soave and their entry level Soave is one of the best value whites in Italy. We have not wavered on this in many, many years.

Soave, east of Verona: encircled by the original enclosures of the town and dominated by a 13th century fortress. At the heart of the Classico zone lies the Pieropan property, which dates back to 1890.

The daily-drinking Soave Classico DOC is mostly Garganega with about 10-15% Trebbiano di Soave. The nose is wonderfully aromatic, the palate delicate and focused with excellent depth and impressive overall balance. I’ll say it again: one of the best value wines of Italy!

  6. Trimbach Riesling Frederic Emile 2016 375ml
Trimbach Riesling Frederic Emile 2016 375ml
Luminous straw-yellow. Complex, mint-accented aromas of nectarine, tangerine and powdered stone, plus a hint of licorice. Then bright, juicy and dense, showing outstanding acid-sugar balance and a penetrating juiciness to the stone fruit and herbal flavors. Finishes multilayered and very long, displaying noteworthy clarity and limy cut on the saline finish. Wine lovers everywhere know just how great Frédéric Emile Rieslings can be, but this looks to be a real knockout in the making; I absolutely love this wine's mineral drive and precision. It pulls off the neat trick of being both very ageworthy and also lovely to drink right now. I was happy to know that my palate was still working after an extremely long day of tasting when I told Pierre that in this vintage of Frédéric Emile I found more of the Geisberg than the Osterberg (in most vintages, the wine is a blend of 60/40 Osterberg-Geisberg, at times even 70/30, but this year it's more like 55/45). (97+) IAN D'AGATA, Vinous Media

The lemon-sherbet note here is really beautiful. Then comes a wealth of herbs, ranging from thyme to parsley, with a touch of sea salt, before turning to more floral nuances, such as cherries and almond blossom. The powerful acidity seems to surround the whole mouth and makes this almost like licking a lemon; the unmistakable dryness is all the more enjoyable because of it. Long and very elegant on the finish. STUART PIGOTT

  7. Robert Weil Kiedrich Turmberg Riesling Auslese 2021 375ml
Robert Weil Kiedrich Turmberg Riesling Auslese 2021 375ml
A lacy layer of floral honey lies over the very ripe white fruit aromas of this very elegant Auslese. In spite of the impressive concentration and succulence, this riesling Auslese is still really fine, even filigree. What a great vibrancy this also has at the dense finish! Enormous aging potential. Limited production. Drink or hold. JAMES SUCKLING

The 2021 Kiedrich Turmberg Riesling Auslese is precise, fresh and flinty on the nose yet pretty sweet on the palate. This is an elegant and refined, dense and saline, seriously grippy and stimulating Auslese with enormous aging potential. Very long but very sweet as well. 8.5% stated alcohol plus 110 grams per liter of residual sugar. Natural cork. Tasted in July 2022. STEPHAN REINHARDT, The Wine Advocate

  8. Clos Clare Riesling 2022 375ml
    Clos Clare Riesling 2022 375ml

Particularly good intensity to be found in the 2022 Clare Valley Rieslings.

Lime, pink grapefruit, bath salts, a little spice, thyme and generally good waft of perfume. It’s intense, with a grapefruit pith and gin and tonic flavour, lime/lemon sorbet, a stony chalky feel, clean acidity, excellent length, with a pleasing quinine and lime zest tang to close. Classic Watervale. A terrific vintage for this wine. GARY WALSH, The Wine Front

  9. Pieropan Soave 2022 375ml
    Pieropan Soave 2022 375ml
The 2022 Soave Classico is a total pleasure on the nose. Sweet smoke and mint nuances complement tropical green melon notes. This soothes with its soft textures while stimulating the senses with a zesty mix of brisk acidity and candied citrus. It tapers off crisp and clean with an inner floral resonance as lemon oil traces slowly fade. I would drink this any night of the week. What a treat. (Lot# 15.02.23) ERIC GUIDO, Vinous

Cuilleron St Joseph Lyséras Marsanne Roussanne 2022 375ml

"Yves Cuilleron is a superstar of the Northern Rhône" THE WINE DOCTOR
"Yves Cuilleron has become one of the bright shining stars of the northern Rhone" ROBERT PARKER

There is no doubt to the pedigree of the wines coming from Yves Cuilleron. He makes an incredibly diverse range of wines both red and white but it's the latter that he is most famous for and his range of northern Rhone blanc impress for both their depth and breadth of selection.
Lovely orchard fruits with a squeeze of fresh citrus and some gentle white florals. Its at once racy and lush with some tightly coiled acidity keeping the lush fruits in check and providing some lovely bounce to the palate. Wonderful purity and light mineral streak sets it apart. A great example of the style and worth seeking out.

Domaine Cauhape Jurancon Sec Chant des Vignes 2018

“Jurançon may be well off the beaten track for most wine lovers, but in the intelligent perfectionist Henri Ramonteau, France has one of its greatest winemakers.” ANDREW JEFFORD, The New France

60 % Gros Manseng and 40 % Camaralet, crushed and destemmed then macerated on skins for 12 hours before pressing. Cool-fermented in stainless steel and matured on lees for 5 months.

The nose expresses a fine and intense bouquet, with notes of citrus and exotic fruits coming from the Gros Manseng, along with hints of white pepper, cinnamon and fennel from the Camaralet. This aromatic register is amplified in the mouth, where there is lovely volume and texture, finishing long and refreshing with crisp acidity.
