Zind Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Hengst Grand Cru 2021This has almost exactly the balance that I remember from the great gewurz of the late 20th century. Fragrant turkish delight character, rich yet dry with a wonderful interplay of ripeness, a mere hint of grape sweetness and complex spiciness. What a beautiful finish! Zind Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Rangen de Thann Grand Cru 2022Intensely smoky nose with notes of bergamot and gunpowder. Very powerful and structured, but so tense, energetic and bone dry, this is a very great expression of this unique site. Fundamentally volcanic in a radically smoky and dryly textural manner. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2025. 98 STUART PIGOTT, jamessuckling.com2022GewurztraminerFrance343$230.00 As low as $207.00

Zind Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Clos Windsbuhl 2022
I love the subtle floral honey, ripe grapefruit and shiso leaf aromas of this super elegant and creamy, full-bodied gewurz that is so unique you might well not recognize the grape variety. What delicacy and vitality at the long, silky finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. 96 STUART PIGOTT, jamessuckling.com

STAFF PICKS 2024 - RICH
Gewurtztraminer can be often misunderstood with low quality examples from the and 80's and 90's still in the minds and on the palates. This is a great wine to help change that mindset. Floral notes with honeysuckle leap from the glass with a hint of white pepper and the traditional spiciness. Due to an drier than normal vintage the alcohol is lower than usual and coming in at less than 1g residual sugar, there is a mineral freshness not often seen from this varietal. The palate follows the nose but brings in elements of stone fruit and sweet spice. If you haven't had a Gewurtztraminer in a hot minute, this is perfect. RICH
Hard as it may be to believe, this gewurz has stacks of yellow rose and star fruit aromas, but is only medium-bodied and tastes so bright. The interplay of the acidity and the exciting touches of tannin and bitterness drive the long, bone-dry finish. Just 12.6% alcohol. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink now. Rolet Arbois Tradition Rouge 2022A blend of 40% Poulsard, 30% Pinot Noir and 30% Trousseau, the 2022 Rouge Arbois Tradition displays bright red fruits alongside spicy elements. Subtle herbaceous accents add complexity, attributable to the use of approximately 20% stems from the Pinot Noir and Trousseau during fermentation. Concentrated and savory, the 2022 is neatly framed by ripe tannins and can be enjoyed over the next four years. Dry River Lovat Gewurtztraminer 2022This wine defines restrained lusciousness. An initial burst of sweetness is followed by tangy acidity to give a lengthy, medium-dry finish. Exotic Turkish Delight flavours gradually build and eventually dominate an array of less exotic flavours such as pot-pourri, mango and lychee. One of a handful of truly great examples of New Zealand gewürztraminer. (96) BOB CAMPBELL, The Real Review2022GewurztraminerNew Zealand435$99.00 As low as $89.10

Domaine Joly Cotes du Jura Poulsard 2022Managed by Cédric Joly, Domaine Joly encompasses approximately 6.5 hectares and offers a comprehensive range of Jura wines. The reds are vinified from fully destemmed grapes and fermented with indigenous yeasts, with about 15 days of skin contact. They age for a relatively short period of six to seven months, leading to an early release. Joly explains, "When I took over from my father 30 years ago, he instilled in me the idea that it's easier to correct a wine with a little chaptalization rather than playing around with artificial acidities. That's why I'm usually the first to harvest grapes compared to neighboring vineyards.”
The 2022 Poulsard Côtes du Jura offers delicate pomegranate and red cherry alongside spicy nuances. Light-bodied and refreshing, the 2022 offers a short yet clean finish. NICHOLAS GREINACHER, Vinoous2022PoulsardFrance412$77.00 As low as $69.30
