Ronchi di Cialla Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso 2014The 2014 Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso di Cialla is a darkly alluring and rich red, with brown spice, smoked meats and ground coffee giving way to woodland berries. Savory red fruits and exotic spice offset a lovely inner sweetness, all enriched by a touch of hazelnut. Soft tannins, ginger and sour citrus are left lingering as the 2014 tapers off almost juicy in feel. Both red and black fruits, peppery herbs, dried flowers, graphite, and a beautiful sense of minerality define the bulk of the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with fine, building tannins, terrific overall balance, and a great finish.
