They think the fruit is so good and so unique that Vasse Felix (who are behind Idee Fix) have a completely separate and dedicated team that exclusively makes the wines from this intriguing site. Now, if that is not a vote of confidence I don't know what is. Whatever they are doing and however they approach they are doing it right because this is some absolutely thrilling Ozzie sparkling. We love it!

  2. Arras Brut Elite Cuvee
    Arras Brut Elite Cuvee
57.3/34.9/7.9% pinot noir/chardonnay/meunier. Méthode traditionnelle; 2016 base vintage, first disgorgement, hence '1601'; aged 4 years on lees; 3.5g/L dosage; Cuvée No 1601, disgorged Aug '20. The house blend of the great House of Arras is a vital barometer for Tasmanian sparkling. Ever more honed, chiselled and sophisticated, its dosage drives lower than ever with each passing release, now resolutely extra brut. The deep, characterful, long-aged mood of Arras is pronounced here, brimming with vanilla cream, toast and roast almonds. Crunchy Tasmanian lemon, grapefruit and red apple brings tension to a long finish. The bite of bitter phenolics inherent to the Arras style is pronounced, leaving the finish grainy and firm. 4. Andre Clouet 2015
    Andre Clouet 2015

    50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot, 5-6g/l Dosage.

Powerful, direct and intense. Terrific fabric like the 2012 one, but just as durable. Vital acidity and high concentration from low yields, with fine tannins in the intensive, long finish, which shows a lot of pressure and arrives youthfully agile, of exceptional class.

Possesses an explosive potential with a creamy intense body. The small amount of Chardonnay also gives it some delicacy. He can certainly remain at the extremely high level for over 20 years of permanent change towards maturity. LOBENBERGS

The NV Brut Réserve is bright and finely sculpted right out of the glass. There's terrific purity and energy running through the Brut Réserve. Crushed red berry fruit, white pepper, crushed rocks and mint all race out of the glass. This release is based on 2020, with a good bit of reserve wine (35%) that serves to create terrific balance. 6. Alpino Prosecco NV
    Alpino Prosecco NV
Who is Alpino? Who cares! Because this is cracking!

It's a juicy, fresh Prosecco from the cold upper reaches of the alps of the King Valley, Victoria and it delivers everything you could want in a super smart package. A touch of spearmint on the nose, crisp green apple and a hint of fresh sliced tree fruits. The palate opens with a hit of sherbet flavours that are driven through by a bright, creamy and crackling fizz. This is going go down as easy on its own as it would in a spritz. A real crowd pleaser here.

    Chartogne-Taillet Cuvee Saint-Anne NV 1500ml
The NV Brut Sainte Anne is a gorgeous wine, as it so often is. Pliant and inviting, with superb textural richness, the Sainte Anne shows Alexandre Chartogne's style off to great effect. Dried pear, chamomile, mint mad dried flowers are some of the many notes that run through this super-expressive Champagne. This release is a 50/50 blend of 2015 and reserve wines, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, also in equal measure. Disgorged: December 2017. ANTONIO GALLONI, Vinous

  8. Vilmart Coeur de Cuvee 2015
    Vilmart Coeur de Cuvee 2015
80% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir from vines averaging 60 years old, the wine spends nearly 6 years on lees. Most importantly only the heart of the pressing is taken - 1400 litres instead of the usual 2100 litres, hence the name 'coeur de cuvee.'
The 2015 Brut Coeur de Cuvée is a pretty dense wine that belies its deceptively mid-weight structure. What surprises me most about the 2015 is how closed it is. In most years, especially warm years, Coeur de Cuvée is quite a bit more open and voluptuous, but the 2015 does not come across like that at all. Rather, it is super-classic in bearing, with tons of gravitas from the 60-year-old vines just waiting to emerge. There are none of the awkward herbal notes that penalize so many wines. Bright saline notes extend the finish effortlessly. The 2015 is a brilliant Coeur de Cuvée. ANTONIO GALLONI

  9. Dom Perignon 2013
    Dom Perignon 2013
A driven and serious DP with aromas of chalk, biscuits, apricot stones and lemons. Some spice and dried flowers, too. So sleek and sophisticated. Elegant. Yet, it’s long and powerful, with a sharp minerality. Tight and precise. Reminds me of bottles from the 1980s, such as 1988. It really takes off. Disgorged October 2021. Drinkable on release in January 2023, but better in a couple of years. A DP for the cellar. JAMES SUCKLING

  10. Rocher des Violettes Petillant Originel Montlouis 2019
Rocher des Violettes Petillant Originel Montlouis 2019
A mid-gold hue, with abundant pastry notes, honeysuckle, orange balm and oatmeal accents, pointing toward a fuller-weighted, very ripe and ambitious Mountlouis fizz. A warm year. This is a commune that has strutted past Vouvray on the opposite side of the Loire, and is today responsible for a good swag of the most exciting white-wine producers in the region, if not the world. The wine finishes textural and bright, marked by chenin's lanolin, tarte tatin and dried hay, before a plume of dutiful freshness. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. NED GOODWINE MW, James Suckling

100% sparkling chenin blanc made in the Pétillant Naturel style from a single parcel in the  lieu-dit “Le Moulin”
Preserved lemon and citrus pith with chalky notes sprinkled throughout and a delicate lift and soft fruit profile. Dry and chalky with a savoury edge. Pure with a seam of mineral that runs the length. Only 5 producers making this wine in Montlouis - very cool. MYLES THOMSON, PWS

  13. Bellenda San Fermo Prosecco DOCG 2022
Bellenda San Fermo Prosecco DOCG 2022
Its formal classification as Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Rive DOCG means it sits up the top of the Prosecco hierarchy. Notes of green apples and lemon pith lead into a crisp core where minerally accents offset fragrant florals. It's fresh and lively in the mouth, savoury streaks cuddle a pitch-perfect core. A cascading stream of fine bubbles frame the ripe citrus and orchard fruits. Juicy, tangy acidity signs off, leaving a refreshing dry burst on the finish. This is a delightful prosecco, a world away from the mass-produced insipid and sweet styles. GABRIELLE POY

    Note below on previous vintage
I think this is the first time I have ever put a Prosecco to my nose and exclaimed, 'oh wow'. This smells simply lovely. Intensely appley – all at once ripe, green-skinned, crunchy, baked, caramelised. And with a hint of angelica. Bone dry on the palate with a fine fizz. Apples, but fresh and green and super-crisp. Neat and elegant with a sprinkling of fine white pepper and salt crystals on the finish. TAMLYN CURRIE, jancisrobinson.com

  14. Chartogne-Taillet Chemin de Reims 2018
    Chartogne-Taillet Chemin de Reims 2018
The 2018 Extra-Brut Chemin de Reims, 100% Chardonnay, deftly marries varietal expression with the tremendous resonance all the wines show in 2018. Citrus peel, crushed rocks, chamomile and dried herbs are all amplified in a Blanc de Blancs that presents the more savory, earthy side of Chardonnay. Even with all its obvious textural intensity and sheer power, the 2018 remains bright and nicely lifted throughout. There is a feeling of translucence here that is beguiling. This is Montagne de Reims Chardonnay at its finest. Dosage is 4 grams per liter. Disgorged: February 2023. ANTONIO GALLONI

  15. Louis Roederer Brut Vintage 2015
    Louis Roederer Brut Vintage 2015
Roederer's newly released 2015 Brut Vintage is a strong effort, offering up aromas of freshly baked bread, citrus oil, pastry cream, dried white flowers and verbena, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and pillowy palate framed by bright acids and concluding with chalky grip. This can't quite match the tension or plenitude of fruit of the last few releases, but it is a lovely Champagne. It's a blend of Pinot Noir from Verzy and Chardonnay from Chouilly. Bereche & Fils Premier Cru Le Cran 2015
The 2015 Extra-Brut Le Cran is one of the stars in this range. The blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay works so well. Apricot, yellow flowers, tropical fruit, chamomile and spice are all amplified in this large-scaled, ample Champagne. There's a tropical, exuberant quality to the 2015 that is notable. Chardonnay was picked at 10.5% and the Pinot was a bit riper, at 10.8%. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. ANTONIO GALLONI, Vinous.com

The 2017 Extra-Brut Cramant Grand Cru is a rich, textured wine. Lemon confit, marzipan, spice and a whole range of tropical accents are dialed up in this exuberant, open-knit Champagne. This is an especially flamboyant style, but it works nicely. The mousse is especially fine, giving the Cramant a decidedly vinous feel. This is tremendous showing in a very hard year that was better in the Côtes des Blancs than in the Marne Valley, where rot was especially problematic. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. 19. Rocher des Violettes Vin de France Chenin 2022
Rocher des Violettes Vin de France Chenin 2022

Xavier Weisskopf is based in Montlouis, across the Loire from Vouvray, and makes a variety of wines, often from old vines. This wine, labeled Vin de France, comes from old vines in a section of Montlouis that is scheduled to be reclassified as Touraine next year, so Mr. Weisskopf decided to simply call it Vin de France. Its dry and delicious, with aromas and flavors of lemon, honey and flowers, just right for scallops or other seafood dishes. ERIC ASIMOV, The New York Times

  21. Jacquesson Cuvee 746
    Jacquesson Cuvee 746
The 746 is a blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, finished with a very low dosage at less than a gram per litre which lets all the purity of the fruit to come through. For the 2018 harvest in Aÿ, Dizy, Hautvillers (68%), Avize and Oiry (32%), the previous winter was exceptionally rainy, this was followed by a mild, stormy spring. The weather changed from June onwards, becoming fine and dry, resulting in a particularly early harvest: we started picking on 30 August and finished on 11 September. The vines were in perfect health and the harvest was abundant with an excellent degree of ripeness and moderate acidity. The resulting wines are particularly fine and elegant. Jacquesson
