Domaine de Bellene Beaune Blanches Fleurs 2021This comes from two plots have been part of the Domaine since 2006 and cover 38.51 ares. They were planted in 1971 on a quality rootstock, giving them late maturity. From Les Peuillets and Hauts Jarrons
Cask sample. Mid cherry. Red berries, redcurrants. Moderate body and quite linear. There’s a roundness to the classically Pinot character of the wine that is very attractive. Clean and fresh, with ripe red fruits, soft, well-knit tannins and good length. MATTHEW HAYES
This is the first wine to display much wood influence and there is a mentholated top note to the peppery red and dark pinot fruit aromas. Once again there is very good volume and excellent vibrancy to the sleek and delicious medium weight flavors that display good balance on the sappy and dusty finish. This has enough development potential to reward up to a decade of cellaring. BURGHOUND2021Pinot noirFrance358$110.00 As low as $99.00 -
Domaine de Bellene Nuits St Georges Vieilles Vignes 2021
A very Nuits like nose offers up notes of forest floor, the savage, purple fruit and an herbal tea top note. There is excellent intensity and precision to the solidly voluminous medium bodied flavors that conclude in a robust, rustic and powerful finish. This too could use more depth, but it has the stuffing to develop it. BURGHOUND

Quealy Seventeen Rows Pinot Noir 2021The most structured offering in the Quealy stable – the tannins are textural with seemingly more fruit weight. It still has the vivacity of the ’21 vintage, yet incorporates hints of sweet and tart rhubarb, dark cherries, mocha and dried herbs plus cedar oak flavour. The palate doesn’t quite flesh out, even if it is medium bodied, as the acidity is keeping everything reined in, bar the slightly bitter, charred radicchio character on the finish, which adds to the mouthfeel and pleasure of drinking.
(95) JANE FAULKNER, Halliday Wine Companion
Strong release. Both woodsy spice and oak notes aplenty but with the fruit to support it. Back cherries, strawberries, toast and coffee grounds, with cedar and dried herb notes over the top. Both inherently complex and inherently bold, even at 12.6% alc. Savoury to the point of bitter, but not. Firm-ish. It’s not for drinking now; it’s built to be matured. (93+) CAMPBELL MATTINSON, The Wine Front
Complex foresty, earthy, leaf-litter aromas and flavours. Peppery and Campari-like wholebunch touches. There’s an individualism and singular character in this wine. Very enjoyable."

Domaine de Bellene Volnay Les Grands Poisots 2021
A fresh and airy nose is comprised by notes of red and dark berries along with plenty of newly turned earth character. The caressing, delicious and vibrant flavors possess very good volume before terminating in a mildly austere and sneaky long finish. This too possesses fine development potential and overall, it is a Volnay villages to consider. BURGHOUND
Lovely aromas of raspberry and dark cherry fruit laid over a faintly stony backbeat and gorgeous blue florals of violets. The palate is medium to full with demure but insistent attack of sweet cherry and spice overtones. Love the delineated flavours as it slides across the palate. Intensity of flavour without heft. I love the limestone drying quality in this wine and the mouth aromas that mark it as a Volnay through and through. MICHAEL MCNAMARA, PWS

Mac Forbes Coldstream Pinot Noir 2022Grey loam overlying clay soils. Whole berry in open fermenters for 14 days on skins with wild yeast. 10 months in small old oak. No fining.

Brokenwood Indigo Vineyard Chardonnay 2022
Marvellous chardonnay. Flavoursome, flinty, fleshy and complete. Stonefruits and white flowers, cedarwood and meal, a quartz-like aspect and plenty of struck match. But harmonious at every single turn. And then there's the finish, which is seriously well sustained. One sip and I was convinced. The score could well be stingy. (95+) CAMPBELL MATTINSON, winefront.com
The sort of wine that unravels with air, from a torque of initial restraint, to a more open weave. Fine contemporary chardonnay, delivered with a cooler climatic edge and Australia's typical clarity of fruit and suffusion of tension. Granitic. Sub-alpine. A meld that delivers gentle stone fruit allusions, kumquat and a seam of oak, impeccably integrated… NED GOODWIN MW, jamessuckling.comAussie winelovers need little prompting when it comes to elite Chardonnay from the Beechworth region which is home to some of our very best. This wine, mostly from the Mendoza clone, sees whole bunch pressing and a wild yeast ferment in new French oak, which is mostly 500-litre puncheons. A lean, pale yellow hue, this is obviously still very young, indeed almost raw, but it is certainly coming together. We have notes of citrus and cashews, with melon and peach. A minerally backing, juicy acidity and impressive length. This will be better in 12 months and should drink beautifully for the following five to six years, possibly considerably more. William Fevre Chablis Montee de Tonnerre 2021 1er
SWEET SPOT, OUTSTANDING - A discreet dollop of wood sets off the equally cool and perhaps even slightly more elegant aromas of acacia, citrus, seashore and oyster shell. The sleek and highly sophisticated medium-bodied flavors possess a really lovely texture while delivering superb length on the bitter lemon and mineral-suffused finish. This beautifully balanced effort is crystalline in its purity and a wine that should repay a decade plus of keeping. BURGHOUND
WORTH A SPECIAL SEARCH - A little more direct, a lot more airy. More citrus bitters again – lovely purity and minerality – beautiful intensity but without pain. A mm of cushion to this fine texture too. So perfectly packaged – This bottle could be drunk today – if it was bottled! Bravo and so sneakily long too! BILL NANSON, The Burgundy Report

William Fevre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2021 MAGNUM
DON'T MISS! - This too could be from nowhere else other than Chablis with its combination of strong mineral reduction, cool citrus, shellfish and iodine. The dense, opulent and powerful large-bodied flavors brim with dry extract that imparts a sappy texture to the lemony and massively long finish. Not surprisingly for a classic Les Clos, this super effort is very much built-to-age and a wine that I would advise not touching for at least 6 to 8 years first. BURGHOUND
WORTH A SPECIAL SEARCH - 4.10 ha, principally the higher section but some lower towards Grenouilles - mainly planted before 1950 by that father of Willaim Fevre. Always the only wine in this - or pretty much any line-up of great Chablis that makes me think - Chevalier-Montrachet - but this year I see Chablis! Extra breadth to this aroma - almost a hybrid of the previous two wines - but then it changes gear, floral and mega-impressive - wow - I almost don't need to drink it! Okay, for science ?? : This is not the most forceful or incisive but it has a mouth-filling fluidity that infuses the senses. (Almost) always a wine apart and it is certainly that in 2021 - undisputedly great - bravo! BILL NANSON, The Burgundy Report

Domaine Naturaliste Artus Chardonnay 2022
A touch of funk here, some smoky sulfides and toasty barrel derived character allied with nougat honey and toasted nuts. A wine of refinement and restraint as well as good depth of flavour, the refreshing acidity towing the flavour long through an extended finish. (Karridale fruit, Gingin clone; underwent malolactic). (95) HUON HOOKE, Real Review
Well this is the Gin Gin clone from Karridale, gets the whole malo thing, and 40% new oak. Heavy bottles still, unlike Leeuwin and Cullen, who are leading the way in this respect.Powerful wine, and glossy, and buttery, cashew nut richness, toast. ginger and clove, with some struck match, pear and grapefruit. It’s a slippery viscous and powerful affair, toffee and grapefruit, mango richness, maybe a little bit brassy and bold, but saline and savoury to close, with a finish of fine length and chalky texture. Francois Carillon Cap Au Sud Chardonnay 2021Plenty of weight here which comes as a lovely surprise the first time you take a look at it. Hits the ripe stone fruit and slightly exotic register but with air it tightens up significantly and turns on the southern charm. Fleshy, nice volume and intensity, no lack of freshness but this nails the succulent and juicy mark, offering up all the bits you want from a great Chard that drinks like it was made for the table. Upfront and loaded up with pleasure on all fronts. Southern Chard made by a master from Burg and it shows. Well played. This is should be on your highlight reel for summer. I particularly like flesh and richness here, it straddles the line between buxom and zippy, so much fun in the tank. Just a dead set lovely wine that is ready and raring to go. Domaine Chanzy Mercurey 'Les Bussieres' 2021We are pretty excited that the wines of Domaine Chanzy will be finding a permanent home in Australia. They offer some of the best value Burgundy anywhere and the quality, we feel, will only continue to get better. Recently the estate was purchased by a wealthy French family who also own Chateau Signac in the Rhone. They have injected both energy, time and cash to the already modern winery and have allowed its dynamic winemaking duo free reign. These are exciting times and Domaine Chanzy and we can't wait to see where they go from here.
Sophisticate nose of raspberry, crushed strawberry that leads with dried citrus peel and stoney, mineral notes that fleck the lifted nose. Mid-weight with lovely drive but not overblown or heavy. The minerally, flinty, palate keeps everything fresh and vibrant with a lovely purity but also a wild, untamed nature as well. Its got the best of rustic charm and purity combined with a generosity of soft red fruits. Lovely wine. Really lovely.

Domaine Chanzy Mercurey 1er Cru 'Clos du Roy' 2020Very deep ruby that is borderline opaque. This is quite ripe though the liqueur-like and sauvage-inflected aromas of black cherry, kirsch and plum manage to avoid roasted nuances. There is both good volume and density to the relatively powerful and palate coating flavors that conclude in a bold and robust if noticeably warm finish that flirts with rusticity. Like many of the wines in the range, this is definitely marked by the vintage but if you enjoy big, bold and powerful pinots, this won't disappoint.BURGHOUND2020Pinot noirFrance358$99.00 As low as $89.10

Mittnacht Freres Cremant d'Alsace Extra Brut NV
Mittnacht Freres have been producing biodynamic wines for quite some time and are well known for their refined wines. They own some parcels in the Grand Crus like "Rosaker" or "Osterberg". We are looking forward to introducing more of their range some time soon.
This Appellation 'Cremant D'Alsace" is made using the traditional method with a secondary fermentation in bottle. It's aged for 32 months before disgorging.
Subtle sparkling with notes of pears, apples and peach, on a festival of light and very elegant bubbles. The palate is dry, notes of granny smith apples and hazelnut, built around a nice, ripe acidity. Delicious festive number !

Boris Champy Hautes Cotes de Beaune Blanc 2021This has a wonderful bouquet with orange pith, citrus lemon and fine mineralité and tension. The palate has a sharp citric entry and is full of tension from start to finish. Veins of grapefruit, lychee and apricot appear towards the finish. Wonderful. NEAL MARTIN
A remarkable wine for this humble appellation, this is simultaneously cool and crisp, yet also texturally complex and elegant on the medium-bodied palate. Every facet of lemon aromas you can imagine, from fresh Amalfi fruit to candied lemon. So much youthful energy at the long, wet stone finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drinkable now, but best from 2025. STUART PIGGOT

Charteris Central Otago Pinot Noir 2022Charteris a trans-Tasman story of exploration, love and connection. Its protagonist is PJ Charteris, an eternal dreamer whose heart burns with a contradiction: fondness for home and desire to explore. Wine, a lens through which to view time and place, is the perfect medium to satisfy those yearnings and to share the fruits of experience with others. In cahoots with his wife Chrissi whe he met while headwinmaker at Brokenwood PJ brings a veritable wealth of experience and know-how crafting some of the best and most drinkable pinot noir out of Otago.
Fresh cut Doris plum and ripe late season Black Douglas cherry full the aroma with layers of anise and subtle brown spice rack. Spicy whole bunch lift provides a layer of wild thyme like complexity to the nose. The palate entry is all cherry with a hint of Pomegranate and licorice across silky yet finely textured tannins. The cherry fruit drive sits over integrated oak which gives a supporting background structure. Long plush and generous with a good 7 year future in the cellar. - PJ Charteris2022Pinot noirNew Zealand373$56.00 As low as $50.40 -
Arfion Spring Pinot Noir 2023Originally from New Zealand, Dave Mackintosh established Arfion with his father Brian and brother Jimmy in 2011. Dave has been obsessed with making wine since '98 and likes to delve deep on a broad spectrum of styles. Sourcing grapes from highly skilled, sustainable growers from across the Yarra, they ensure site and variety are in harmony throughout the season with low impact winemaking at their heart. They do abide by one rule. All wines must deliver good times.
Well, that rule has not been broken here. What a belter of a pinot noir. It says 'Spring' pinot but this will be slurppable all summer long so don't you worry about that. This is all about straight up juicy fruit and absolutely gluggably styled pinot that is light on its feet, crunchy and bursting with fruit. Lashings of raspberry and red cherry with clove, white pepper and a melange of fresh ground sweet spice. It's slippery and so easy to drink and while it comes of feeling pretty and light it still packs plenty of punch. Absolutely delicious!

Francois Carillon Bourgogne Rouge 2021While there is no reviews for this rouge, he doesn't make much, we continue to buy it every year as the quality has been consistently excellent. So much so that it seems to be popping up in more and more staff orders, always a good sign. The red also has garnered a bit of a following here amongst some customers. For the price I think it's a bit of a steal, many Bourg Rouge are now topping the $100 mark. He doesn't make us take it, we buy it because we think it's excellent. I suggest trying some yourself. Wickhams Road Yea Pinot Noir 2023
I forget what Franco said on his little back label spiel, as I’ve given the bottle away, though it was something along the lines of ‘High acidity from this site, so no need for adds’.
It’s a bit spicy and mulchy, poached strawberry and raspberry, a little mint and floral perfume. It’s crisp, sappy, lively, a smudgy feel to tannin, slightly smoky and tobacco-laced, with a juicy finish of good length, gentle dusty tannin trailing. Nice.. GARY WALSH, The Wine Front
Cooler and drier than their Hoddles Creek vineyards, this Yea Valley pinot is the most reticent and fine-boned of this year's three Wickhams pinots. A light, bright red, this has scents of redcurrants, a little strawberry and blood orange. The palate is compact and very nicely balanced, with gently grippy tannins suggesting that this will need another six to 12 months to unfurl and grow into itself. Good aromatic width, containing a hint of green citrus. Fresh, broad and attractive in the mouth - that's a lovely village wine. BILL NANSON
From two leui dits - Les Clous Perrons, les Magnys - in Meursault with time on lees in barrel to bring weight and texture with 12 months and 10% new oak. From vines 50+ and 25+ years old. Again those beautifully handled lees add something to both the feel of the wine and its aromatic profile. That is one of the hallmarks of these wines and its great to see at this level. Ample roundness and generosity, but there is zip and pep too. Salty minerality here! Very good Bourgogne. Better than its classification.

Domaine Rapet Savigny les Beaune Aux Fournaux 2021
Aux Fourneaux is split between Premier Cru (top half) and Village status where the vines begin to level out. The Rapet's own vines in both sectors so this Villages has been bolstered by 1er fruit (but is declassified to a villages).
… A light bouquet, prettily floral, continuing through to the back of the palate. Good fruit acid balance with some charm and length. JASPER MORRIS MWThe name suggests it's from a warm site (fourneaux meaning ovens), but it's not. It's referring to the charcoal ovens which…. A mix of rosehip, spiced red cherries with accents of rosemary and cigar boxes lure you in. The delineation of fruit and freshness on this Savigny les Beaune is a drawcard. A spine of raspy tannins ribs out around the nervy core of fruit. It's charming and a more finessed SLB in the making. GABRIELLE POY

Domaine Rapet Beaune 1er Les Greves 2021
From 50+ year old vines in the climat Sur les Grèves, this is one of the top-tier vineyards of Beaune admired for its power, structure and age ability thanks to the steep slope and reddish soils infused with iron oxide.
A riper if less refined and airy nose speaks of red and dark currant aromas that are laced with newly turned earth, exotic tea and an interesting hint of orange peel. There is better volume to the medium-bodied flavors that display good power and mid-palate density before culminating in a youthfully austere, firm and nicely balanced finale. This is consistently one of the domaine's better wines and so it is again in 2021. OUTSTANDING, BURGHOUND…. The nose is very pleasing, all in red fruit with a little white pepper, whereas the other cuvees have all been more floral. Very lively on the palate, with typical Grèves structural qualities and an abundance of fruit to return behind. JASPER MORRIS MW

Domaine Rapet Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Les Vergelesses 2021Located just below Ile de Vergelesses, the soils are heavier here with a more clay component. This has helped in the cooler 21 vintage, adding more weight to the fenetic florals.
Mostly old vines from the 1960s. Similar pale crimson colour. Only a little more bouquet. A little more fruit starts to push out behind. Plenty of energy here, pleasing red fruit with some weight. JASPER MORRIS MW
