100% Chardonnay
From the Tauxieres parish of Champagne. All chardonnay. Almost zero dosage too. Matured in barrels for some of its life.
So very dry, very biscuity and nutty. Scents of cinnamon scrolls, ripe apple, sandalwood, green apple, brown sugar and sea spray. The palate is apple pie with cinnamon, ginger biscuits, very tart lime juice, briny mineral elements, quite lush and succulent (with chalky elements), there's shades of Jura chardonnay strongly implied here, so saline, so nutty, without the concentration of Jura perhaps, and yet bubbles are quite light on too. I don't mind that - the vinous nature of this wine is really compelling. The finish superbly fresh. Stellar stuff here; Champagne goes au naturale, is the vibe. MIKE BENNIE, winefront.com
Apple pie, green pear, cinnamon, almond pastry. Very dry, almonds, green apple and lemon, almost flat in terms of bubbles, a fino-like still Jura Chardonnay, sans weight, with a brine and green olive finish almost like a dirty Martini.
