Stefano Lubiana Offer 2026
-
Stefano Lubiana Ruscello Pinot 2023Lifted, floral and spicy aromas of red cherries, raspberries, rose hips, orange zest, dried herbs, blood oranges and crushed stones. The palate is vibrant and tightly wound with bright acidity and finely integrated tannins that lead into a long mineral finish. Just like the producer's other 2023 bottlings, it's excellent. (97) JAMES SUCKLING
So very savoury and so very structural. Smoke, herbs, cherries, undergrowth and earth. Feels tense, feels earthen, feels pure and while it's more about structure than fruit power, it has the fruit to carry it through to a sustained finish. CAMPBELL MATTINSON, Wine Front

Stefano Lubiana La Roccia Pinot Noir 2023Intense, perfumed aromas of dark cherries, raspberries and dried roses with black tea, crushed rocks and sandalwood. The powerful, tightly wound palate has bright acidity and firm tannins, showing pomegranate, blood oranges and pencil shavings yet with a subtle, earth-driven finish. Long, mineral and age-worthy. Excellent. One of the finest pinots in the new world. (98) JAMES SUCKLING
This is excellent. It feels cool but it also feels long and powerful. Undergrowth, forest berries, smoke, meat, wild flings of orange and purple flowers. Sweetness of the fruit peeps through on the finish, but only just. It's a wine of elegant power and, too, of sheer quality. CAMPBELL MATTINSON, Wine Front

Stefano Lubiana Collina Chardonnay 2023Tightly wound aromas of lemon peel, lime curd, orange blossoms and flint. The palate is medium-bodied with laser-like acidity and a creamy texture, giving notes of mandarin rind, white nectarines and red apple skin. Made from select hillside parcels and treated with a light hand in the winery. Pure class. (96) JAMES SUCKLING
FIVE STARS - Meyer lemon, mandarin pith and subtle fine cedar mark the opening, before a swirl of the glass unlocks pastry dough, grapefruit, nougat, yellow apple and further citrus preserves. Some sweet citrus blossom lift with further air, adding prettiness to the perfume. There's a lot going here, and it all works. The palate is sapid and textural, with Meyer lemon and savoury cedar taking charge and mandarin oil, yellow apple, preserved lemon and grapefruit in tow. Big acidity here, and it's a great feature as it coils around the fulsome feel of the palate, drawing tension and length through a long, concentrated finish. This is an impactful and impressive Chardonnay of power, detail and complexity (96) JASPER MORRIS MW
The incredibly impressive 2023 Chardonnay Collina radiates strength and detail. The nose offers waves of oat bran, peach skin, flowers and nectarines, with understated savoury notes in the background. Explosive flavors follow, firm acidity lending precision and definition through to a fine finish of exceptional length. This is a very serious wine that will only get better with time. Chardonnay of silty grey loam over white gravelly clay on the Lubiana estate in the Derwent Valley. Light straw with aromas of white peach, nectarine and citrus with a wisp of struck-flint complexity and hints of grilled nuts, nougat, pressed flowers, almond paste, light vanillin oak, clotted cream and crushed stone. Lemon curd unfurls on the palate. The flow of fruit shows some richness and yellow plum tones, with an extended creamy finish and fine, lacy acidity driving thing along nicely. A mouth-filling style with a lot of class. DAVE BROOKES, James Halliday's Wine Companion
The 2023 Collina Chardonnay is floral and white, with pineapple, nectarine and green apple, sugared almond, a hint of marzipan, ground nuts/meal and scraped vanilla pod. This is a gorgeous wine, one of light and dark accents, shadows and illumination, lifted spice and dense fruit. It's a beautiful wine that comes heartily recommended. (96) ERIN LARKIN, Wine Advocate
Interesting that oak should be mentioned because it's so well handled here. It shows, but it's a slip of a thing, and it's slipped into the salty, smoky, citrussy highlights of the wine, which allows the wine's grapefruit heart to shimmer. This is a firm, elongated wine from a cool year, sophisticated, gently waxy, whispered with flint. Its power is both coiled and inherent. It's for the cellar. CAMPBELL MATTINSON, Wine Front

Stefano Lubiana Estate Pinot Noir 2024This just feels complete. It's firm, it has powerful fruit, it's spicy and it's smoky, with long chains of tannin, the latter inbuilt with spice, chalk and florals. 40% whole bunch and it's taken that stalks completely in its stride. 95 easily. Super release. Pristine, powerful, cherry-plum fruit layered with a generous amount of trimmings. CAMPBELL MATTINSON, Wine Front
2023- A refined nose, mute but shimmering with intent as it is clearly marked by depth and precision, with just the faintest allusions of fruit. This is a mid-weighted wine of structural torque, hinting pomegranate, persimmon, kirsch, forestry scents and rose hip after a workout in the glass. Perhaps the most enticing of the single site cuvees in its youth. A wonderful, incisive drive through the mouth, directed by beautifully managed tannins, taut but svelte at the same time. The tannins, the signature of the estate. A long life ahead JAMES SUCKLING

Stefano Lubiana Estate Chardonnay 2024Light straw in the glass with aromas of juicy peach, nectarine and grapefruit with hints of almond paste, clover blossom, riverstone, crème fraîche, spiced oatmeal and a liminal glimpse of struck flint. Detailed and fine of line, the pure stone and citrus fruit unfurl gracefully, daubed with spice and stone and drawn into line by a fine seam of sea-born acidity. There is a nice stretch of flavour as the wine trails off. DAVE BROOKES, James Halliday's Wine
2023- Flashy and flinty aromas of orange blossoms, grapefruit peel, lime curd and hazelnuts on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with focused acidity, giving notes of lemons, sea salt, graphite and pastry. A tightly wound wine that will age nicely in bottle for many years to come. Excellent.
