Beautiful Beaujolais 2026

Stephane Aviron Beaujolais Village 2023Stephane's family has been wheeling and dealing in Beaujolais for generations. Based in Fleurie, his father owned an oenological laboratory and worked as a wine broker where, after completing his studies, Stephane returned to work in the family business as a wine consultant and a winemaker in Chénas. His experience there and history in the region brings a depth of knowledge and intimate detail of the terroirs he now works. That, when combined with Stephane's obvious talent makes for a formidable combination.
Black cherry and bright raspberry with a hit of heady, whole peppercorn spice, touch of cola and lovely burst of five spice that drives the inviting nose home. Super crunchy, raspberry fruit layered in with fine slippery tannins. Bursting with red fruit flavour, bright and bouncy. It's fine and tight with a lovely core of fruit that feels light and airy and at once concentrated and precise in its delivery. A fine Villages.

La Madone Fleurie Vieilles Vignes 2022Brooding and weighty with stalky fruit balancing alcoholic weight. Plush yet focused, finishing with fresh acidity. Beautiful berry fruit and an earthy rich texture. Firm tannins, biting acidity and a lingering, juicy finish. DECANTER
Beets, red berries and orange pith on the nose. Some violets. It’s sleek, wild and medium-bodied, with fine tannins and delicious petal- and tea-like notes at the end. Drink now or hold. JAMES SUCKLING2022GamayFrance352Special Price $43.00 Regular Price $51.00 -
Chateau Thivin Cote de Brouilly La Chapelle 2022The 2022 Côte de Brouilly La Chapelle comes from vines located at the highest part of the slope. It has a fabulous nose with pure black cherries and blueberry fruit, touches of rose petal and blood orange. Underneath, there is a slight chalkiness that evolves in the glass. The palate is outstanding with plush red berry fruit, satiny texture and a perfect line of acidity. There is something luxuriant about this La Chapelle, though its location on the higher contours means there is adequate tension. One of the wines of the vintage? Most certainly. A standout in the château's lineup, the 2022 Côte de Brouilly La Chapelle, derived from 70- to 80-year-old vines, wafts from the glass with aromas of wild cherries, red plums, lilac petals, underbrush and baking spices. On the medium to full-bodied palate, the wine reveals terrific depth and complexity, layered with supple, tangy cherry fruits and a wet stone salinity that imparts tension. Here, finely woven tannins assert themselves gently on the cheeks, while ripe acids lend a sense of precision and contrast to the concentration of flavor, crafting an experience as refined as it is robust. Domaine Chermette Beaujolais Moulin-à-Vent Les Trois Roches 2023Not the largest nose but certainly the most spiced and peppery. Scale, some generosity due to the concentration but moderated by a cool fluidity. The texture is more silky than velour, and the finish spreads wide, wide over the palate. A really classy wine-another simply excellent wine !! Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report2023GamayFrance352Special Price $65.00 Regular Price $77.00 -
Stephane Aviron Beaujolais Cote de Brouilly 2023Perched on the slopes of the extinct Mont Brouilly volcano, Côte de Brouilly is one of Beaujolais' most distinctive crus, defined by its blue-stone diorite soils and elevated sites. Stéphane Aviron draws this wine from two separate parcels on the mountain. The first, accounting for around three-quarters of the blend, lies on poor southwest-facing soils and is planted to vines more than 60 years old, providing the wine with depth and structure. The second parcel, with south-facing exposure and vines averaging around 45 years of age, brings brightness and generous fruit to the blend.
Each parcel is vinified and matured separately before the final assemblage. As is traditional in Beaujolais, whole bunches are used and undergo a week-long maceration prior to pressing. The wine is then matured in a combination of stainless steel and old neutral foudres, some more than four decades old, preserving freshness while allowing the character of the fruit and terroir to shine through.

Stephane Aviron Beaujolais Fleurie 2023Fleurie is widely regarded as one of Beaujolais' finest crus, producing wines prized for their perfume, depth and structure. Stéphane Aviron sources his Fleurie from the family-owned La Madone vineyard, situated on the steep western slopes of the appellation. Planted on classic granite soils and requiring entirely manual cultivation and harvest, these old vines—ranging from 55 to 90 years of age—deliver fruit of remarkable concentration and character.
The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before undergoing whole-bunch fermentation and a week-long maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is then matured for twelve months in large, neutral oak foudres of around 50 hectolitres, allowing the purity and elegance of the fruit to take centre stage while adding texture and complexity to the finished wine.

Stephane Aviron Beaujolais Morgon Cote du Py 2023Morgon Côte du Py is Stéphane Aviron's most powerful and structured expression, a wine that combines immediate appeal with the ability to evolve beautifully over a decade or more. The fruit comes from the famed slopes of Côte du Py, an ancient volcanic hill widely regarded as one of the finest terroirs in Beaujolais. South-facing vineyards rooted in schist and blue volcanic stone provide the foundation for a wine of depth, earthiness and impressive longevity.
Individual parcels are vinified separately before blending. Whole bunches undergo a ten-day maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, preserving both fruit purity and site expression. The wine is then matured for twelve months in older Burgundy barriques, between three and seven years of age, allowing it to gain texture and complexity without imparting overt oak influence. The result is a serious, age-worthy Morgon that captures the distinctive character of this celebrated cru.

Daniel Bouland Morgon Corcelette Vieilles Vignes Sable 2024One of three site-specific wines from Corcelette, this cuvée is drawn from old vines on granitic sand soils (sable means sand). The vines were planted in 1926, so it’s truly a Vieilles Vignes cuvée. It is the sister wine, if you like, to the Cailloux (stony) cuvée. Unsurprisingly, Bouland’s gnarled old trunks have over-delivered again. Despite the vine age, the winemaking remains the same, so what you have here is the depth, intensity and personality coaxed from some of Morgon’s oldest vines. The value here is off the charts. Again, it’s chock-full of compact, mouthwatering raspberry fruit: such a jubey, fine and pretty wine. If it were from the Côte d’Or, you’d swear you were in Chambolle.2024GamayFrance352Special Price $52.00 Regular Price $62.00 -
Daniel Bouland Morgon Corcelette 2024This wine is the first of three cuvées focusing on Corcelette’s sandy and granitic soils. This soil generates wines of great perfume and finer, rounder tannins than you find in Morgon’s more schist-influenced terroirs. Bouland separates his so-called ‘younger’ vines in this area (60 years on average, so hardly young!) from his oldest bush vines, which are bottled under the Vieilles Vignes label.
Like all Bouland’s wines, this was fermented as whole bunches with indigenous yeasts, with the must foot trodden at the end to prolong the fermentation. A fine start to the trio of 2024 Corcelette-labelled cuvées, this is the prettiest and, in some ways, the most accessible to drink. It’s packed with silky blueberry, red flowers, and sarsaparilla, and has a seamless structure that's already incredibly seductive.

Dominique Piron Coq Leon 2024Dominique Piron crafts this wine as an approachable introduction to his excellent range of Beaujolais. Drawn predominantly from Gamay grown across Beaujolais and Beaujolais-Villages vineyards rooted in granite soils, it is made with freshness and immediacy firmly in mind.
Bright, juicy and wonderfully easy-going, this is pure, fruit-driven Beaujolais from one of the region's most respected names. A cheerful glass of red with plenty of charm and pedigree behind it.

Chateau Thivin Cote de Brouilly Les Sept Vignes 2024The 2024 Côte de Brouilly Les sept vignes comes from seven parcels, vinified and raised separately in wooden foudres. This has a vibrant bouquet despite a touch of reduction, well-defined with Morello cherry and strawberry aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins. As expected, this is more austere than the previous two warmer vintages, but that exposes the mineralité, with a linear finish that urges you back for more. NEAL MARTIN, Vinous

Maxime Crotet Beaujolais Lantignie 2022This natural and organic Beaujolais (not certified) is extracted from the Gamay grape variety and comes from the Lantignie appellation, it was harvested early in order to remain light in alcohol. It underwent a 14-day maceration, which makes it a wine of great finesse, fruity and delicious. It was vinified naturally without destemming and without any addition of sulphites before being aged for 10 months in oak barrels. (No new kegs) The wine exhales concentrated aromas of red fruits with hints of currants and has a nice acidity.2023GamayFrance352Special Price $89.00 Regular Price $105.00
