Andre Clouet Clos de Bouzy 2008 1500ml

The Clouet Clos between the house and the cuverie on the lower edge of Bouzy is not the family's finest terroir, without the characteristic chalk mineral definition of their hillside sites, and it takes an exceptional season to infuse it with the confidence to stand alone. However, 2008 delivered that season, with a captivating tension and introverted reticence containing grand complexity waiting to burst out. Layers of gingernut biscuits, anise, glace orange, fig, mixed spice, baked white peach, golden fruit cake and roast almonds define a multi-layered allure compressed into a coiled core of lemon and white cherry fruit.  In time, notes of plum liqueur and black cherry emerge to declare the depth and impact of Bouzy, rising to the rhythm of an exceptional season, which coaxes out a pronounced chalk mineral texture of crystalline definition, glittering through a long finish.
