Raphet Special Offer

This is a bright, juicy and red-fruited village Gevrey-Chambertin. Raphet uses 10% new oak across their village wines and it’s integrated well here, barely noticeable at all. Alongside the cherry and raspberry fruit, there is the scent of florals with a minerality and savoury note that fills the finish. BURGHOUND

An appealingly fresh nose also freely offers up its aromas of the essence of red pinot fruit along with discreet spice wisps, especially anise. Once again the mouthfeel of the middleweight flavors is succulent and fleshy and while not super-dense, I like the sense of energy that carries through to the balanced and inviting finish... Here too there is enough wood to remark upon framing the mix of red and blue pinot fruit, earth and a hint of humus character. Once again there is very good mid-palate density to the suave and seductively textured medium weight plus flavors that conclude in the classic youthful austerity of a typical Clos de Vougeot. A more elegant and airier nose is comprised by a lovely range of red berries, anise and a floral top note. The precise and punchy flavors are not especially dense though I like the texture that carries over to the lightly stony, youthfully austere and persistent finish. This is on the lighter side but on the plus side, it's refined and very Chambolle in character. BURGHOUND

This is also aromatically attractive with its array of the essence of red currant, earth and a suggestion of the sauvage. The round, generously proportioned and supple flavors possess solid vibrancy though there is a mild touch of asperity on the otherwise nicely long finish. BURGHOUND

Moderate wood stops short of fighting with the spicy and ripe aromas of mostly various dark berries, violet and smoked game wisps. There is excellent richness to the larger-bodied flavors that deliver fine length on the balanced finish where a touch of sweetness eventually emerges. BURGHOUND

A cool, airy and elegant nose is composed by the essence of red cherry, spice and even less obvious wood influence. The sleek, vibrant and caressing medium weight flavors possess a lovely mid-palate texture that contrasts somewhat with the firm, serious, austere and more structured finale where the wood telegraphed by the nose slowly reemerges. At least moderate patience will be necessary. BURGHOUND

from a tiny .20 ha parcel of 100+ year old vines - A ripe and pleasantly fresh nose offers up notes of dark cherry liqueur, earth, spice and a whisper of humus. The agreeably textured medium weight flavors are not especially concentrated, at least not compared to their usual fine level of concentration, but they are refined and delicious, all wrapped in a solidly complex and balanced finish. BURGHOUND

This possesses the most complex, and spiciest, nose in the range with its array of plum, dark cherry, sauvage, earth and forest floor-suffused aromas. There is fine complexity to the reasonably concentrated and lightly stony flavors that culminate in a mildly wood but hugely long and well-balanced finish. Good development potential here. BURGHOUND

More subtle though still easily perceptible wood influence can be found on the cool red currant and humus-tinged earth-scented nose. Here too there is good volume and solid density to the sleek, vibrant and detailed flavors that display the typical youthful austerity of a classic Clos de Vougeot on the firm and built-to-age finish.
