It’s pure and pithy with a lovely limestone tension that takes you straight to Burgundy, says Alex the big boss. I agree; yellow nectarines, ginger, fresh fennel and toasted nut aromas lure you in. The palate is taut and tense with flavours of crunchy white stonefruits and just ripe pineapple leading into a wash of cleansing limestone tension. It’s a delicious nervy white Burgundy with a kinetic kick to finish. Ripping value! GABRIELLE POY

Mid lemon and lime. Good fruit energy here. Really classy and tangy, with excellent persistence, layered and classy.  JASPER MORRIS MW

Pale lemon. The nose suggests a classical approach and there is certainly weight and substance. Lemon and greengage yet fully ripe, feeling like a mini-Meursault made from another grape. Drink from 2025-2028. JASPER MORRIS M.W, Inside Burgundy

    Domaine Goisot Bourgogne Aligote 2023
OUTSTANDING! There is plenty of classic aligoté character on the nose with its aromas of green apple, spice and lemon rind. There is good punch and unusually good density for the vintage to the middle weight flavors, all wrapped in a nicely dry and sneaky long finale. Good quality for its level and this would make a good choice for an all-around sipper. BURGHOUND

WORTH A SPECIAL SEARCH! Hmm - that's really perfumed - there's depth to this expressively perfumed nose. Energy, melting with juicy flavour - and plenty of flavour too. The base is mineral but the intensity is that of citrus - subtly strict finishing. A great aligoté !! BILL NANSON, Burgundy Report

Quite a complex saline nose, lemon scented plums and just when it seems almost too enjoyable it settles down behind with a delicious limestone mineral finish. Very persistent. JASPER MORRIS MW, Inside Burgundy

  4. Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Grand Champs Aligote 2023
Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Grand Champs Aligote 2023
The 2023 Bourgogne Aligoté Les Grands Champs comes from vines in Chassagne that are almost 100 years old. It has a very complex bouquet with beeswax and subtle yellow fruit. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, more focus and precision than the regular cuvée and an understated finish. Very fine. NEAL MARTIN Vinous

Just a little more colour than the regular bottling but a much more concentrated bouquet, almost as if there had been some maceration, and the fruit, fresh plum with citrus, washes across the palate beautifully. In bottle. Drink from 2026-2029. JASPER MORRIS MW, Inside Burgundy

Mid yellow, but brilliant and with energy. A perfect Aligoté nose, with harmony on the palate, a little waxy note and a slight youthful bitterness which does not at all interfere with the harmony. Impeccable. JASPER MORRIS MW, Inside Burgundy

  6. Olivier Morin Bourgogne Aligote 2022
    Olivier Morin Bourgogne Aligote 2022

REVUE DES VINS DE FRANCE: Olivier Morin is currently the most consistent producer in Chitry: no herbicides, watch the yield closely. Non-interventionist, the vinification is done with natural yeast, no acidity correction, no filtration

This wine is grown organically in Chitry not far off Chablis. No oak used, or if, they must be older barrels.

A wine of freshness and purity. Quite rich in a way, ripe stone fruits, some sweet lime, a touch of crunchy salt flakes, some nougat and cream to finish, gently. It ticks boxes for the variety. In all this, a wine with modest energy, a good drink here, not particularly complex or compelling, but just enough of everything to get you back at your glass. MIKE BENNIE, The Wine Front

  7. Domaine Ludovic Bonnardot Bourgogne Aligote 2020
Domaine Ludovic Bonnardot Bourgogne Aligote 2020

    Organic farmed. Old barrels only.

Lively, attractive white wine of medium weight, strong minerality in tow with a lick of grip to texture. Spot on. Some almond nuttiness in the mix, green apple, grapefruity tang and, as before, that mesh of saline minerality is wholly appealing. This is classy, fine and exceptionally persistent in character. A delight. MIKE BENNIE, The Wine Front

  8. Boris Champy Bourgogne Aligote Dore 2023
Boris Champy Bourgogne Aligote Dore 2023
The 2023 Bourgogne Aligoté Doré had just been racked onto the lees in tank at the time of this tasting. Fermented in 500- and 600-liter barrels, it has a fragrant bouquet that frankly is a paragon of what Aligoté should be: very pure, light resinous scents, beautifully focused with hints of honeysuckle and peach skin. The palate has exquisite balance and a disarmingly waxy texture, lightly spiced with a precise finish. Superb. NEAL MARTIN, Vinous

  9. Agnes Paquet Bourgogne Aligote Le Clou & La Plume 2023
Agnes Paquet Bourgogne Aligote Le Clou & La Plume 2023
This cuvée is crafted to showcase the true potential of the Aligoté grape, with finesse, vibrant fruit, and real complexity. Aging in 500L barrels adds depth and length to the wine. The majority of the fruit comes from Les Plumes, a plot in Meursault with predominantly clay soils and mature vines that lend roundness and texture. The remainder is sourced from Le Topo du Clou, a young, hillside vineyard in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune, in the commune of Meloisey. This site features mainly limestone soils, contributing freshness and mineral tension to the final blend.
