A blend of 47% Grenache and 53% Syrah, the 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Plateau de Mont-Redon aged in a combination of new oak barriques and stainless steel tanks. Coming in at 15.5% alcohol, it wafts from the glass with expressive aromas of ripe red and black fruits, wood smoke, cedar, cloves, licorice and a splash of mint. On the palate it is full-bodied, built like a brick-wall, and enveloped in ever-so-velvety tannins, concluding with a complex finish. Regular buyers of this cuvée should note that there will be no Le Plateau produced from the 2021 vintage. Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous
