  1. Montrose 2017 1500ml
    Montrose 2017 1500ml

    2 BOTTLES AVAILABLE
    Saint-Estèphe 2ème Cru Classé
Extremely aromatic with currant, wild-herb and fresh-violet aromas. This is regal cabernet sauvignon at its finest. The palate has unwaveringly long and defined tannins that carry such fresh, piercingly pure, redcurrant and cassis flavors. A twin to the superb 2015? A blend of 76% cabernet sauvignon, 20% merlot, 3% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot.(97) JAMES SUCKLING

The 2017 Montrose is a very pretty, polished wine that speaks much more to finesse than power. Expressive floral and spices notes add an attractive inner sweetness to a Montrose that in 2017 leans more into the red fruit spectrum. Gracious yet deep, with terrific overall balance, the 2017 Montrose is a total winner. What impresses most about the 2017 is its freshness and sophistication. I won't be surprised if Montrose turns out to be even better than this note suggests further down the road. Graphite, licorice, menthol and sage lead to a finish with real grip and freshness. The 2017 is such a classy and promising wine. (95+) ANTONIO GALLONI

The 2017 Montrose was so impressive from barrel and now, bottled since July, it continues to put in a strong case for being one of the best Left Bank wines. It has a very pure and intoxicating bouquet with intense blackberry, light cassis, juniper and violet aromas, almost Margaux-like in terms of personality. Although there is a patina of new oak after bottling, it is in sync with the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip on the entry. Tightly wound at the moment but supremely well focused, this is a classic Montrose, "cool" and reserved, demonstrating impressive tension and precision towards the finish. It will require less time in bottle than the 2016 for example, so broach this superb Saint-Estèphe after five or six years and then it will give 25 to 30 years of drinking pleasure, and knowing Montrose, probably longer. Tasted twice with consistent notes. (95) NEAL MARTIN

  2. Gianfranco Alessandria Barolo San En Piasi 2017 1500ml
Gianfranco Alessandria Barolo San En Piasi 2017 1500ml

    7 BOTTLE AVAILABLE

The 2017 Barolo EnPiasì is such a pleasure to taste. A whole range of floral and savory nuances open first, suggesting the presence of whole clusters, even though the wine is made entirely from grapes that have been destemmed by hand. Silky, nuanced and beautifully persistent in the glass, the 2017 is a Barolo of pure and total finesse. I would prefer to drink it over the next 10-15 years, a bit of youthful Nebbiolo tannin notwithstanding, as it would be a shame to miss out on the extraordinary purity of fruit that is present at this stage. Descendientes de Jose Palacios Petalos Mencia 2018 1500ml

    10 BOTTLES AVAILABLE

Dark, bright-rimmed ruby. Spice- and mineral-accented dark berry and floral scents show fine clarity and a complementary hint of candied licorice. Sappy and focused on the palate, offering gently sweet boysenberry, bitter cherry and violet pastille flavors and a spicy touch of white pepper. The mineral quality repeats on a very long, penetrating finish that leaves sweet blue fruit and spicecake notes behind. JOSH RAYNOLDS

  4. Barbier Clos Mogador 2016 1500ml
    Barbier Clos Mogador 2016 1500ml
    3 BOTTLES AVAILABLE

Keeping the classical profile, the 2016 Clos Mogador has been fine tuned, reducing the French grapes, and it matured approximately 18 months in oak foudre and barriques. There is a lively sensation on the palate, vivacious and with very fine tannins. It has a meaty touch and feels really young , despite the long élevage. There is a strong mineral sensation on the palate, something that is a texture and mouthfeel rather than a flavor. This is an unusual, fresh vintage. LUIS GUTIERREZ, Robert Parker

Saturated ruby. Ripe black raspberry and cherry aromas are complicated by suggestions of cracked pepper, allspice and pungent flowers. Supple, appealingly sweet red and blue fruit preserve flavors gain energy with air, and a bright mineral element adds back-end lift. Supple tannins add shape to a persistent, floral-accented finish, which leaves cherry and spice notes behind. JOSH RAYNOLDS, Vinous

    Lignee Rouge Shiraz/Pinot 2021 1500ml

    3 BOTTLE AVAILABLE

    (on the 2018)
Here’s a collaboration between NSW Sexyboys Will Gilbert (of Mudgee) and Angus Vinden (of Hunter). It’s a 50/50 blend of Hunter Shiraz (1968 block Somerset) and Orange Pinot Noir. Only older oak. 400 magnums filled, and magnums only.

Smoky, spicy, hazelnut, cherry and raspberry, mint, bright and a bit tangy. Medium-bodied, cranberry acidity, fresh red fruits, a slight fenugreek/aniseed bitterness/perfume thing, frisky and slightly stalky, strawberry and spice on a long cool finish, graphite tannin trailing. So interesting. Vibrant and translucent. Great to drink too. 94+ Gary Walsh, THE WINE FRONT

  7. Charvin Cotes du Rhone Le Poutet 2020 1500mL
Charvin Cotes du Rhone Le Poutet 2020 1500mL
    3 BOTTLES AVAILABLE

The nose carries a light essence of cooked plum fruit, strawberry jam, pepper, peony. It’s wide, will emerge and evolve well. The palate is close-knit, herbal-peppery, lined with red cherry, brisk fruits, cut in the tannins that still stand a little on the outside. Its frame is a bit skeletal, can amplify. There is rocky powder emphasis on the close, the length good. I like its gradual upping of the tempo, depth. It has interest, hidden corners, is not an open book. “It’s very fresh, always had foundation. 2019 is powerful, but 2020 bears jolis fruits, has true class, an identity,” Laurent Charvin. 8. Figuiere IGP Mediterranee Rose 2021 1500ml
Figuiere IGP Mediterranee Rose 2021 1500ml

Pale orange-pink. Redcurrant, orange zest and subtle floral and herbal elements on the fragrant nose. Made in a juicy, forward style, offering sappy red fruit and spice flavors that show good heft and breadth. A spicy white pepper note adds bite to a smooth and nicely persistent finish. JOSH RAYNOLDS, Vinous

Figuiere is a renowned family estate faithful to their terroir and region but also curious and innovative. Always in a will to produce the best wines, the Combard family originally from Chablis, is constantly searching between tradition and innovation, to be able to reach everyone with their products, from the small fresh wines to be tasted in summer to the great vintage that will sublimate all the tables.

This cuvée is the result of a rigorous selection of wines whose blending and maturing are finalized with real know-how in the cellars of the Domaine Figuière. This rosé is a blend of different grape varieties: Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Cabernet.

  9. Baricci Brunello di Montalcino 2017 1500ml
Baricci Brunello di Montalcino 2017 1500ml
    3 BOTTLES AVAILABLE

With the first tilt of the glass, you know that this is not your average 2017 Brunello di Montalcino. An enthralling bouquet of spiced citrus peels, roses, sour cherries, crushed rocks and animal musk keeps you at the edge of your seat. This is remarkably pure and delicate, seeming to hover across the palate, yet delivering a vivid mix of ripe wild berries, salty minerals and purple-tinged florals. Beneath, saturated tannins build, yet the expression remains fresh - almost mouthwatering, in fact - as sweet hints of plum and tobacco slowly fade. While the Baricci family doesn't market their wine as a cru, this is indeed 100% Montosoli fruit from one of the region's top winemaking families. Bravo. ERIC GUIDO, vinous.com

  10. Chartogne-Taillet Cuvee Saint-Anne NV 1500ml
    Chartogne-Taillet Cuvee Saint-Anne NV 1500ml
The NV Brut Sainte Anne is a gorgeous wine, as it so often is. Pliant and inviting, with superb textural richness, the Sainte Anne shows Alexandre Chartogne's style off to great effect. Dried pear, chamomile, mint mad dried flowers are some of the many notes that run through this super-expressive Champagne. This release is a 50/50 blend of 2015 and reserve wines, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, also in equal measure. Disgorged: December 2017. ANTONIO GALLONI, Vinous

    Trimbach Riesling Geisberg 2015 1500ml

    1 BOTTLE AVAILABLE

Picked with 16% potential alcohol, due to very small, millerandage grapes with super-healthy berries but no botrytis at all, the 2015 Riesling Grand Cru Geisberg is very intense and concentrated on the precise, fresh and perfectly ripe nose, where bright and lemony fruit and crushed limestone aromas are displayed. Rich, round and concentrated, this is a warm, lush, piquant and well-structured Riesling with a fine tannin grip.  95+ Stephan Reinhardt, Robert parker

  12. Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli 2016 1500ml
Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli 2016 1500ml

Here in its second vintage, the Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Montosoli is taking no prisoners. It wafts up with a beguiling and sultry display, with savory cherry sauce and sage giving way to spiced citrus peels, smoky minerals, animal musk and black olive tapenade. Youthfully dense and velvety upon entry, it offers masses of dark red and black fruits, contrasting almost salty nuances with a dark chocolate bitterness that creates tension and complexity. The 2016 builds like a crescendo, gaining in intensity and verve, right up until the moment that its gritty tannins take firm hold of the palate and refuse to let go. Still, echoes of licorice, blackberry and cooling herbal tones linger. It closes up rather quickly in the glass today, becoming monolithic and austere, yet the gorgeous snapshot received over the first ten minutes after opening it delivered a wonderful preview. I can’t wait to see what future vintages hold for the Vigna Montosoli, as it is one of the best young wines I’ve ever tasted from Valdicava. Unfortunately, it is only available in magnum.

  14. Massolino Barbaresco Albesani 2020 1500ml
    Massolino Barbaresco Albesani 2020 1500ml
The 2020 Barbaresco Albesani has more substance and depth than the straight Barbaresco. The differences between the two wines today aren't that marked at the outset, but that comes with aeration. Macerated cherry, plum, spice, lavender, rose petal and sage develop with time in the glass. All of the richness and power of Albesani comes through. The 2021 Chianti Classico is exceptional. A burst of ripe red/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol, licorice and tobacco are all dialed up in this racy, layered Chianti Classico. The 2021 was aged in 20% in cement and 80% in 20-25hL casks. It’s a serious wine that will benefit from cellaring. The Chianti Classico points to a potentially superb vintage here for the top bottlings.  Antonio Galloni, Vinous

  16. Vietti Barolo Monvigliero 2019 1500ml
    Vietti Barolo Monvigliero 2019 1500ml

The 2019 Barolo Monvigliero is stunning. What a wine. Rich, heady and explosive, the 2019 is a gorgeous, spherical Barolo that dazzles right out of the gate. Aromatically broad and expansive, the 2019 fleshes out beautifully in the glass. Bright red-toned fruit, orange zest, mint, spice and bright saline notes saturate the palate on the back end. The 2019 is a total stunner, even in this stage of youthful austerity. It comes across as a bit rustic compared to the 2018, but the final verdict on that won't be evident for at least a number of years. This is the first vintage that includes a second parcel in Monvigliero. In the cellar, one lot saw submerged cap maceration, the other did not. 97+ Antonio Galloni, VINOUS

  17. Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 1500ml
Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 1500ml
Dark ruby. Captivating violet lift to the aromas and flavors of cassis, kirsch, licorice and mocha. Plush and fine-grained; extremely deep in the middle palate but this extremely rich wine impresses as much for its finesse as for its sheer density and power. Finishes with wonderfully harmonious tannins and great slow-mounting length. Owing to its sheer density and baby fat, the wine is edge-free from the start, but it's likely to evolve at a snail's pace and last for decades. (13.9% alcohol). STEPHEN TANZER

  18. Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2019 1500ml
Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2019 1500ml

Moving to the 2019s, the 2019 Côtes Du Rhône offers just about everything you could want from Côtes Du Rhône and is medium-bodied and textured, with complex notes of ripe darker cherries, violets, and pepper, supple tannins, and outstanding length. While I always say you should drink these in the first 4-5 years or so, these actually are capable of evolving for at least a decade. JEB DUNNUCK

Dark ruby. Spice-accented cherry and black raspberry aromas are complemented by suggestions of pungent flowers and cola. Fleshy and energetic in the mouth, offering nicely concentrated red and blue fruit flavors that tighten up steadily with air. Shows very good energy and lift on a long, gently tannic finish that leaves behind repeating red fruit and spice notes. JEB DUNNUCK

A benchmark entry-level Côtes du Rhône from a classic Rhône Valley producer. A medium aromatic intensity of blackberries, spice, and black pepper. The palate is textured and serves the same dark fruit plus spice notes. The wine (like most Côtes du Rhônes) shines with food. DECANTER

What can we say about the Guigal CDR that hasn't already been said. Not only one of the best value southern Rhone reds around but one of the most cosistent. This one comes in the big sizes so are you getting even more bang for your buck. A steal!

75% Garnatxa, with 5% Syrah and 10% Merlot. 10% of Lasendal Tinto is free run bled after 8 hours' skin contact.

A beautiful Garnatxa Tinto in miniature ... It's everything about the berry but lighter, fresher and zippier. Beautiful red fruits of the forest with an appley crunch, a light wave of Montsant's limestone soils and delicate fruit tannins in a nice buzzing herbal register ... Mas Donís pink has a lovely juicy and refreshing primary feel without any sugar heft. It fits and sits right in the middle of the palate, leaving a perfect amount of space - an invitation to be completed with riotous chat-and-chew action. Well cut with earthy acidity, the rosehip and maraschino palate is vibrant and has very neat lines.
