Forlorn Hope Mil Amores 2012The DeWitt Vineyard is sustainably farmed, made up of granite and quartz soils. A blend of Portuguese grape varieties, Touriga Nacional, Tinto Roriz, Trincadeira are planted in a single block. The block was picked and co-fermented at the same time. Aged only in neutral oak for 12 months then bottled. The blend is loaded with black, blue fruit, earthy and spicy undertones, unmatched suppleness with lots of intrigue. Vallado 20 yo Tawny Port 500mlDeep, brandied nuts on nose; ripe, rainforest timber and roasted almond. Extraordinarily fine palate; wonderful interplay between ridiculously fine aged spirit and oak. Clean drying grip of fruit tannin and barrel perfectly frame the elegance of spice, honey and clove down the back half; outrageously long finish. Quinta do Noval Tawny Port 10yoI've been tasting a lot of port recently and on several occasions this particular wine has really stood out as being much more vigorous and satisfying than its peers. It has that slight touch of rancio that comes from many years in wood but mainly it is a thoroughly delicious blend of fruit and nuts (no chocolate). JANCIS ROBINSON, MW
A fresh, vibrant style, showing cherry and redcurrant pâte de fruit notes, with blood orange and rooibos tea flavors. Light cinnamon and mineral nuances add to the streamlined finish. JAMES MOLESWORTH, winespectator.com

Vallado Douro Tinto 2019Fleshy (halfway between carnal and cadaver), rich and very spicy damask rose aromatics, some black bean/vanilla pod among the creamed red berries, a touch of gentian violet and oak-synthesis coffee. Coffee oak and creamed red berry are the drivers of a super-slick and not-too-tight palate. Touriga Nacional that's showy AND interesting as a straight varietal - a rare, beautiful and inexpensive example.2019TintoPortugal386$81.00 As low as $72.90
