The massive tannic structure indicates that the 2020 will be a long-distance runner and shouldn’t be touched until 2030. It closes with excellent grip on the complex finish. This is very much the origin of our range, and for some difference, only about 4% colombard' says Melanie Tesseron. Burnt umber colour. Warm, hearty, earthy, woody aromas with lifted spice, hints of caramel, pepper and high tones of fresh honeycomb and citrus rind. Almost unctuous texture here, a sweetness in the warmth, mellow and succulent, oak sits through the wine but this is much more supple and softened with honey and burnt, charry flavours -lots of depth here, sits smooth and medium-weighted in the palate with ease of drinking at the forefront. Penfolds Grange 1994Dense red-purple; the typically rich and powerful bouquet has layers of dark berry fruit and integrated and balanced oak. What makes it unusual is the distinct hint of chocolate, which appears again on the silkily powerful palate.
