This is a blend with grenache Blanc grown at the De Bortoli Melville's vineyard on the eastern edge of the Rutherglen region. The marsanne and roussanne are grown on the De Bortoli Shelley's Vineyard which is approximately 800m from the Melvilles Vineyard.
Picked in the cool of the morning and handled gently with non-oxidative winemaking techniques and cool temperatures at every stage. The wines were 100% fermented in stainless steel tanks to ensure they maintained all of their varietal freshness, crispness and great acidity.
The palate is fresh and crisp with a crunchy drinkability and textural mouth-filling palate. The blend has flavours of pears, apples, minerals and herbs, which follows onto the palate with a delicate richness and textured dry finish.

Pressed firmly but with no sulphur, dropping out harsh phenolics and keeping finer ones. The result is a wine of startling clarity and purity, effortless in the way it unfurls pear and lemon notes scented with orchard blossom, soft herbs and sea spray. Brash Higgins RSM Semillon Riesling 2022From 1975 plantings in Blewitt Spring, riesling (70%) and semillon (30%) are picked together, kept on skins for a couple of days, then basket pressed for co-ferment in old barrels and one steel vat. This is a fuller-bodied expression of two varieties that are often represented in more trim form. Chateau Montravel Blanc (Semillon) 2016This is a 100% Sémillon form a 1 hectare vineyard located in Montravel, a sub-region of Bergerac.
The grapes are hand harvested in small lug boxes, bunches are selected one by one. Pressed in an air tight press, the must is then barrel fermented and the wine aged on fine lees with regular batonnage. Aged for eleven months in 1/3 new, 1/3 one year old and 1/3 in two years old oak barrels.
I love this wine - Semillion grown on chalk with a minerally intense core. It is opulent and dense yet has great freshness. A slight touch of stuck match reduction adds complexity to a lifted bright nose of citrus and minerally notes. Great power and mouth coating flavour and yet finishes crisp and clean. ALEX WILCOX

Already knows that vineyard pretty well, with a little help from his friends. He’s into bottling separate parts of his vineyards. I’m into it too, fair to say.
