  1. San Moro Negroamaro 2023
    San Moro Negroamaro 2023

Black jelly beans, cherry, dried herbs, raw almond and quite the classic Negroamaro signature here really. It’s medium-bodied, juicy cherry flavour, some bitter chocolate, a little grip and grain to tannin, a little bit rustic, but nice and honest in that way. Some chew and bitterness on a finish of solid length. I like it. GARY WALSH, the wine front

It's an impressively modern affair here with state-of-the-art equipment and winemaking facilities. However, the team here is committed to making what they see as the traditional expressions of the wines of the region while embracing contemporary craftsmanship. That includes very little oak if any at all and steel tank, temperature controlled ferments to preserve freshness and vitality. These are impressive wines that capture the warmth, heart, and soul of the region with modern styling and a nod to the many generations of quality wine producers that came before them.

Not the first time the wines of San Moro have made their way into the mixed packs and we doubt it will be the last. These are absolute ripper that deliver in spades. Try them all. We already dried up our stocks of fiano before the NY so there you go.

  3. Antonio Camillo Ciliegiolo 2023
    Antonio Camillo Ciliegiolo 2023

Antonio Camillo was born and bred in the Maremma region along Tuscany’s Tyrrhenian coast. He chose his homeland, specifically the area of the Maremma alta, to make wines “that can talk about their terroir and that can be easily recognizable for their character and their class”.

Antonio chose to work primarily with Ciliegiolo – ciliegia means cherry – an ancient variety genetically related to Sangiovese that was often used in Tuscany as a blending component for its cherry scented vibrant fruit. Antonio believed in the grape in its own right and set about searching for old vine vineyards, eventually purchasing six hectares in Manciano, a medieval town literally just steps from the Saturnia hot springs. These hot springs have been popular since Etruscan times, but wine-wise, it means that the volcanic soil is rich in nutrients.

    Forlorn Hope Mil Amores 2012
The DeWitt Vineyard is sustainably farmed, made up of granite and quartz soils. A blend of Portuguese grape varieties, Touriga Nacional, Tinto Roriz, Trincadeira are planted in a single block. The block was picked and co-fermented at the same time. Aged only in neutral oak for 12 months then bottled. The blend is loaded with black, blue fruit, earthy and spicy undertones, unmatched suppleness with lots of intrigue. PWS

  5. Willie Smiths Pommeau de Tasmanie 18.2%
Willie Smiths Pommeau de Tasmanie 18.2%

Aged in small apple brandy casks for over 12 months, this rich and generous liqueur is a result of blending pressed French and British heirloom apple varieties with our apple spirit.

Complex and well-structured with baked apple and spice, balanced with firm tannins and cask influence.

Our take on the traditional aperitif from North-West France – enjoy as such or serve with blue cheese or dessert. WILLIE SMITH

Vallado 20 yo Tawny Port 500ml
Deep, brandied nuts on nose; ripe, rainforest timber and roasted almond. Extraordinarily fine palate; wonderful interplay between ridiculously fine aged spirit and oak. Clean drying grip of fruit tannin and barrel perfectly frame the elegance of spice, honey and clove down the back half; outrageously long finish. SCOTT WASLEY
