Tasting note: The Fiumeseccu Rouge is pale cherry in colour. Very distinctive in style, dominated by fruity (pomegrante) aromas which evolve towards notes of pepper and spice on the finish. 95% Sangiovese and 5% Colorino. Temperature controlled (maximum 26° C) cofermentation in open tanks with selected indigenous yeasts takes place over 20 days. Aged for 12 months, primarily in cement vats with a small proportion in old oak casks. I think you could say that this wine really displays the freshness and brightness of the estate’s northerly site while offering genuine Classico depth an character. Cherry, blueberry and raspberry fruit is prominent on the bouquet, with a touch of floral perfume in the background. Very lively on the palate, the redfruited flavours are well balanced with the silky but persistent and lingering tannin astringency. Very good drinking now, but a little more bottle age will definitely add some extra depth and dimension. Currently one of my favourites in the portfolio

Fontalpino Chianti Colli Senesi 2020100% Sangiovese coming from the Colli Senesi subzone that hugs the southern section of Chianti Classico, as opposed to the two other Colli Senesi subzones: one to the north of Montalcino, and the other to the north of Montepulciano. Both Gioia and Filippo feel this northern section of the Colli Senesi DOCG far outshines the two southern sections as far as depth and intensity of flavour and structure are concerned. This wine is medium to dark in colour, with a fresh bouquet of spicy plums and violets. The high-risk part comes after the canes that feed the fruit are cut – causing that fruit to concentrate – effectively using the vine as a drying rack for the fruit. Much depends on the weather conditions that follow – sunny and dry conditions work wonders; wet, cold or windy conditions all bring challenges. Stephanie uses intuition to decide the day to harvest.
This is a unique, delicious, concentrated wine that delivers all the hallmarks of riesling – citrus, florals and spice; beautifully expressed through an intense yet perfectly balanced palate and a pristine, clean finish.

Bubb and Pooley Riesling 2024100 % Coal River Riesling coming from the Winen Vineyard on White Kangaroo Rd (near the home vineyard for B+P) and from the limestone-based Pressing Matters Vineyard in Richmond, Coal River Valley. Located in the commune of Radda, Piero and his sister, Benedetta, took over the estate from their father in the mid 1980’s and have extensively renovated the vineyards and, more recently, the old property at Bugialla in to a stunning agriturismo. The wines are typically full and rich yet retain beautiful elegance and perfumed fruit. They taste like Chianti should and they are always good, even in lesser years.
The attention to detail in the vineyard verges on fanatical, with biodynamic farming, careful clonal selection, close planted vines, nitrogenous cover crops, extensive canopy management and hand picking to ensure the best possible combination of concentration, acidity and ripe tannins. Wild yeast fermentation, modern winemaking techniques and French oak for maturation complete the process. The 2024 The Merle Riesling is powerful and tightly controlled, with a long spool of flavor—lemongrass, white pepper, cheesecloth, bay leaf and scratched lime—that draws out over the finish. Rocca di Montegrossi is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, about seven kilometres from Gaiole. The name comes from the historic fortress that was built during the Longobard period (600-800 AD) by Geremia, ancestor of the Ricasoli–Firidolfi family, and destroyed in 1530. Marco is part of the Ricasoli family that wrote the story of Chianti Classico, creating the formula for the wine we know today at the site of what is now his San Marcellino vineyard.
The estate covers 60 hectares, of which 18 are under vine and 20 with olives trees. The vineyards are situated on gently sloping hills that are calcareous origin, at between 300-450 metres and planting densities range from 3,300 vines per hectare in the old vineyards to 5200-6200 in the new. The soil is very rocky and just planting a vineyard here is costly exercise thanks to the work required to break the ground but the flip side is that the vines are forced deep into the soil and yields are naturally low.2021sangioveseItaly495$58.00 As low as $52.20 -

The 2021 Riesling Ürziger Würzgarten Kabinett (Golden Capsule) is clear and very delicate on the saline and flinty nose. On the palate, this is a lush and round, almost creamy-textured Kabinett with fine and crystalline acidity and a savory-pure and refreshing grippy finish. It's almost dry in taste due to the low pH of the 2021 vintage and the pure red slate terroir of Molitor's Würzgarten. This is a complex Kabinett with a very long and mouth-watering finish. A penetrating nose with its core of citrus fruits, floral notes and crushed rock. There's a hint of sweetness, but this is essentially a dry wine, with mouth-tingling and invigorating acidity ensuring it's balanced and fresh. I liked this. A lot.
