Antonio Camillo Ciliegiolo 2023Antonio Camillo was born and bred in the Maremma region along Tuscany’s Tyrrhenian coast. He chose his homeland, specifically the area of the Maremma alta, to make wines “that can talk about their terroir and that can be easily recognizable for their character and their class”.
Antonio chose to work primarily with Ciliegiolo – ciliegia means cherry – an ancient variety genetically related to Sangiovese that was often used in Tuscany as a blending component for its cherry scented vibrant fruit. Antonio believed in the grape in its own right and set about searching for old vine vineyards, eventually purchasing six hectares in Manciano, a medieval town literally just steps from the Saturnia hot springs. Mengoba Godello sobre lias 2021This wine fermented with wild yeast in wooden foudre and was raised for 10 months on fine lees in two 4,000-litre oval wooden vats.
The aging is longer and less reductive than for its younger sibling, which only seems to enhance the sense of smoky minerality—a reflection of the slate and calcareous soil in which the vines grow. It is a complex and stimulating mountain white that is, by turns, grapefruity, fleshy, powdery and savoury. The finish throws up deep, earthy mineral notes and perfumed, mouth-watering length. Kings County Moonshine 375ml40% ABV. Kings County Distillery's Moonshine (un-aged whiskey) is distilled from 80% New York State organic corn and 20% malted barley, sourced from the UK. The latter represents one of the highest proportions of malted barley on a US whiskey's mash bill. It is double distilled in gooseneck copper pot stills to yield a lower distillation proof, rich in flavor and mouthfeel. The Kings County distillers use very narrow cuts, essentially the heart of the hearts, to draw off a very clean, pure distillate. Nothing at all is added.
