Disznoko Dry Furmint 2023This relatively new addition to the Disznóko family highlights the versatility, individuality and sheer quality of Tokaj’s signature grape variety. This 100% Furmint was drawn from several plots on volcanic/clay soils, fruit that was always destined for dry-wine production. The grapes were harvested by hand with special care to remove botrytised berries, and the wine was vinified in tank.
In Disznóko’s customary style, this is all about purity and zesty freshness to capture the vibrant juiciness and minerality innate to this unique grape variety. With almond, white peach and fresh lime aromas and flavours combined with trademark racy dryness, there’s something akin to a vibrant, spicy Chablis going on here, especially in its flinty, salt-licked close. Serve as an aperitif, with seafood (it’s superb with oysters) or poultry/game bird dishes.

Robert Weil Kiedricher Riesling Trocken 2022The 2022 Riesling Kiedricher is from two upper parcels in the of the Wasseros, above the Gräfenberg, which means rivulet, evident in small springs, fed by the forested top of the slope, also on mica schist. This is higher and cooler. One-third is made in wood and two-thirds in stainless steel, from ripe and super-clean fruit. The nose is aromatic, suggesting Reine Claude plum, white peach and green pear skin. Clarity also defines the palate where riper stone fruit shines, framed by grapefruit skin. This has serenity, tautness and substance, despite slenderness. Mouth-watering zestiness appears on the finish. This is a real achievement at an annual volume of more than 100,000 bottles. The 2020 Riesling Rüdesheimer Rosengarten Monopol Grosses Gewächs is from two parcels within Rosengarten, the Bienengarten and Kreuzgarten, within the village, flat, close to the river, hence a very warm site, on a sandy, loamy soil. This makes it an outlier among Rüdesheimer Grosse Lagen. The vines are 50 and 20 years old. Just a hint of honey plays on the nose, with a slight note of shriveled, dry fruit that was common in 2020. The palate is rounded and really concentrated, with insistent, bright, dried lemon notes and citrus pith. It is mouth-watering, with real chalkiness of deep soil that begins to take over from the fruit. It's round, rich and with much personality. ANNE KREBIEHL, Vinous.com

Riesling Lorcher Seligmacher has a gentle nose of Navel orange flesh, fresh, fruity and ripe. More air gives a sense of ripe, sweet apple flesh. The palate is juicy and bright. The concentration drives home a sense of zestiness, but there is a fill of orange flesh juiciness. The finish is dry, but this is richer, rounder, beautifully juicy and serene.
