Jansz is a key part of the Tasmanian sparkling wine story. It was born from the first French forays into the Deep South, with champagne house Louis roederer helping to establish it in 1986. The French could see the potential, but didn't stick around; it has been the drive and energy of the hill Smith family, owner since 1998, that has really established jantz as a major force. This is Jan in microcosm, a single site Chardonnay with old oak maturation before secondary fermentation in bottle and four years on lees. Gorgeously pure beautifully balanced, fabulously fresh.
