Details

The 2019 Barolo San Giovanni is the more powerful of the estate's two Barolos. It offers up scents of mocha, spice, dark cherry, plum and leather. There's a bit more new oak too, which adds intensity as well as volume. The San Giovanni emerges form the oldest vines on the property, but I have to admit I like the straight Barolo a bit more because of its greater finesse. ANTONIO GALLONI
