Cyprien Arlaud "Scritch" Chablis 2023

Cyprien Arlaud is part of the third generation of the family estate Domaine Arlaud (Morey-Saint-Denis, Burgundy). The estate originally burgeoned under Joseph Arlaud and Renée Amiot after WWII; their son Hervé then took over in 1982 and developed the estate further. Cyprien, alongside siblings Bertille and Romain, now manage the estate and have emphasised organic and biodynamic practices (certification achieved in 2014). The "Scritch" label is a more modern, terroir-driven line from Cyprien, referencing the onomatopoeic sound of chalk on a slate ("scritch") as homage to the chalky soils.
The Scritch Chablis 2023 is drawn from a parcel in the commune of Beines (Chablis region) planted with 100% Chardonnay. The terroir comprises clay-silt over Barrois limestone and Exogyra marl. The vineyard sits at an elevation of around 350 m and is managed under organic certification. Farming is low-intervention, designed to preserve purity of fruit and express the terroir.
