  1. Amen Break Chardonnay 2021
    Amen Break Chardonnay 2021
Hailing from a small village in east of Australia called New Zealand the Clonal Brothers are Matt and Steve Harrop and together they are a lethal winemaking combination. Matt will be a familiar name to most as the long-time winemaking brains behind the Shadowfax wines and more recently, Curly Flat. His easy-going nature belies a profound winemaking talent that combines an innate understanding of his craft with equal parts accessibility and intellectualism in his wines. Steve -who still operates out of NZ - also has a couple of decades of vineyard development and wine marketing behind him and his ability to root out the right parcel at the right price is legendary.

  2. Domaine Lalaurie Rivage Blanc IGP Coteaux de Narbonne 2021
Domaine Lalaurie Rivage Blanc IGP Coteaux de Narbonne 2021
Following their father's death in 2020, twin sisters Camille and Audrey are forging ahead as the 10th generation to run this gorgeous family farm near Narbonne in the Languedoc. As an enologist Camille has overseen a significant jump in quality by introducing modern winemaking techniques after working vintages abroad. They are investing in revitalising the old cellar and focused on biodiversity and achieving close to organic farming practices. Her wine style is sparkly, clean and honest, delivering impeccable quality across the range.

A delicate, fresh and mineral wine from twin sisters Camille and Audrey, Rivage Blanc is racy and driven by Sauvignon Blanc, in a restrained European style. Floral citrus mingles with grapefruit juice and a very fine cut of refreshing acidity, a great example of Camille's clever, frank wine making style.

  4. Domaine Naturaliste Discovery Chardonnay 2023
    Domaine Naturaliste Discovery Chardonnay 2023
Before I tell you that Bruce Dukes' career has spanned over 3 decades and that he's had years of experience both locally and abroad, it's likely a good idea to start at the finish: Bruce Dukes is wholly talented, and while he makes high-quality acclaimed wines for his own estate - Domaine Naturaliste - he also does this for a raft of other, smaller producers in Margaret River and Geographe. His winemaking style is one of fresh, pure fruit over obvious or intrusive winemaking artifact, and the wines routinely possess a polish and eminent drinkability. ERIN LARKIN

Aromas of crushed stones, lemon peel, sliced pink grapefruit and subtle ground spice. Medium-bodied with a lot of pleasant white tea character. Jasmine and leafy herbs come through. Drink now. JAMES SUCKLING

Tasting with Bruce is a pretty remarkable experience. The guy knows his business and he knows he is getting things done, better than most. He is a crazy character though. You have to strap in and get ready for the ride. He runs from jovial and humorous through to intense and stern. Kind of like his wines. Some of them are driven, intense and focused things, some are a little more uplifting and joyous. This one definitely sits somewhere in the middle and we love it!

  5. One Eighty Wines Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2023
One Eighty Wines Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2023

So, Charles one of the guns behind One Eighty Wines started working for Prince Wine Store the middle part of 2024 and quickly became an invaluable team member. Imagine our surprise when he bought in a selection of wines made from his home turf in the beautiful surrounds of Adelaide.

These are deftly crafted wines that speak gently of place with an easy going attitude that belies their subtle complexity. They are crafted beautifully allowing wine making elements to blend seamlessly with pure fruits and wonderful balance. These really over-deliver in every way.

The 2023 Chardonnay, sourced from the Adelaide Hills region, is aged in 50% new oak for 9 months, then bottle aged for a similar length, this wine boasts bold butterscotch flavours, with notes of green apple to give the wine great balance. It's a lovely combo of old-school richness and modern freshness. That's not easy to pull off but they have done it here without losing any of the positives either style. Well done!

De Bortoli PHI Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2021
From the Lusatia Park vineyard at Woori Yallock, purchased by De Bortoli family in 2016. Whole-bunch pressed, barrel fermented and matured for 9 months in both new and used French oak casks. Bright green gold. Restrained with good fruit purity. Yellow pear, white nectarines and a hint of jasmine, the palate is a happy mix of being both textured and refreshing. A very even wine that finished long with some green apple crunch. PHILIP RICH, wine companion

  7. Honky Chateau Ikigai Chardonnay 2021
    Honky Chateau Ikigai Chardonnay 2021
This by somm Chris Ryan of Cummulus Inc so you know he know what good booze is supposed to look like. All from a single vineyard in Healesville handpicked, crushed and pressed to all old 300l barrels. All wild ferment and just a couple of barrels that kicked on through to natural malo and kept for a bit of extra depth. Keen and minimal winemaking - we love it!

Lush, soft and juicy, tropical leaning chardonnay with a really good dose of sweet spice. Slurpy, yummo kinda vibe. Not changing the world but this thing is delicious. Delivers a really good hit of chardy. MIKE BENNIE, The Wine Front

  9. Pacha Mama Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2023
Pacha Mama Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2023
From a single vineyard in Gruyere. Whole-bunch pressed and barrel fermented in 15% new puncheons. Callie Jemmeson has a good feel for making chardonnay, and it shows on the complex bouquet of white peach, lemon zest, grilled hazelnuts and a soupçon of sea spray. It's mouth-filling and balanced, finishing with a touch of grip on the nicely structured and long finale. 96 PHILIP RICH, wine companion

  10. Murdoch Hill Chardonnay 2023
    Murdoch Hill Chardonnay 2023

The 2023 Adelaide Hills Chardonnay is gentle and fine, with curry leaves and white peach, green apple and brine. What a lovely wine this is. It is chalky, nutty, and floral and exceptional value for money at $36 AUD. This is unassailable. ERIN LARKIN, Wine Advocate

The pear flavours here are as overt as they are delicious. This is a wine that gushes up to greet you, its offering of juicy pears wrapped in wheat, cedar and grilled peach characters, its texture soft throughout. There's joy to be had here. CAMPBELL MATTINSON

  11. Eminence 'Cute Brut' Zero Dosage Rose NV
Eminence 'Cute Brut' Zero Dosage Rose NV
The fruit for this was handpicked and gently whole bunch pressed, before being transferred to old French oak for fermentation. No yeast, enzyme or nutrient was added and the ferment was kept at around 15 degrees to preserve aromatics. After primary ferment, the barrels had a small sulphur addition before resting over winter on the yeast lees. 11 months later, we assembled a blend of 38% pinot noir (white base wine), 2% pinot noir red wine (for that lovely colour), 30% chardonnay and 30% pinot meunier. The chardonnay was a blend of vintages, but the pinots were 2019 base wine - so this wine must be labelled NV.  After fermenting again (creating the bubbles!) It was then aged on lees for 30 months before being disgorged with zero dosage.

  12. Luke Lambert Crudo Chardonnay 2023
    Luke Lambert Crudo Chardonnay 2023

“The granite soils of the Denton vineyard are most evident in the Chardonnay wines,” Luke says.  The Crudo fruit hails from the east/northeast-facing slope on the cone-shaped Denton vineyard. The vines are now 20 years old, sitting on those expressive soils of granitic sand over heavy granite boulders.

As is the norm, the fruit was whole bunch-pressed and spontaneously fermented with no temperature control. The wine went through full malolactic conversion and matured in old oak (2,000-litre French oak foudre) for three to four months. It was bottled without fining or filtration and with minimum sulphur.

  13. Coldstream Hills Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir 2017
Coldstream Hills Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir 2017
52.7/47.3% pinot noir/chardonnay. Approximately five years on lees and disgorged with 6.5 g/L dosage. A bright straw green. This is very fine on the nose with delicate aromas of apples, white peaches, freshly poached red fruits, brioche and a little hazelnut. The palate is equally refined, and this builds nicely with its gentle creaminess and fine bead before finishing taut and long. A refined Aussie sparkling. PHILIP RICH, Halliday Wine Companion

  14. Vasse Felix Premier Chardonnay 2023
    Vasse Felix Premier Chardonnay 2023
One of the best chardonnays yet under this label. But you expect that with mature vineyards, a great vintage and continually refined winemaking. Opens with a slightly savoury cashew aromatic, which is intense and immediately engaging. The palate is deep and multi-layered. Explosive and powerful, it extends with real purpose to a long though still linear and defined finish. One of the best. (96) RAY JORDAN

  15. Gueguen Chablis 2020 375ml
    Gueguen Chablis 2020 375ml
Celine Gueguen Brocard and Frederic Gueguen are a refreshing new voice amongst the mineral soils of Chablis. Though their experience runs deep. Celine is the daughter of Jean-Marc Brocard, the respected Chablis estate where she worked with her husband Frederic for over a decade.

Winegrowing runs in Celine's blood. Plots from her great grandmother established in 1882 have been passed down the line to her. Her mother, also a wine grower instilled a strong work ethic in her daughter. To say wine ran in the family is an understatement.

That classic stoney-Chablis-esq vibe here. Why do we mentione that because a warming climates and changing syle doesn't always present but here it does. Nice balance with the fresh white tree fruits cut by a saline line of acicidity and sprinkled with a little white pepper, quartzy thing going on. Nice little push of fruit out the back with loveley virbancy and purity offset with a little leesy funk.
