Castello di Buttrio Mon Rouge 2013

The international varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot accompany the indigenous Refosco for this blend. The grapes are all picked by hand, destemmed, inoculated with cultured yeast and left in contact with the skins for 7-9 days. The fermentation temperature is kept at 20-25 degrees Celsius to bring out the grape's notes of fruit. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation are followed by malolactic fermentation. The result is a bright ruby red wine, beautiful lift and crunchy fruit, with a feeling of hung meat and charcuterie. Juicy and approachable, but also plush and textured, this wine is a real treat. PWS
