A blend of twenty native grape varieties from vines 25-70 years old fermented and matured for 11 months in 70% used barrels with the balance in stainless steel tanks.
Bright yellow straw colour with a watery hue. Red apple skin and pear skin aromas mix with hints of guava, mandarin and stony mineral notes. Savoury green apple skin and pear skin flavours are underpinned by edgy saline laced acidity. Energised feel with some guava and mandarin elements also chiming in on the tangy finish.
A blend of encruzado, bical, malvasia fina, cerceal – an exotic array of varieties, though apt in Dão and from older sites.
A chewy, waxy number with lemon oil, preserved lime, some lime pickle and dill notes, touches of sea spray, peanut, pickled ginger and brine. Quite a bit of flavour and pucker to texture, a good energy, a gastronomic wine in some respects, where more is happening than just refreshment factor. Plenty of charm in that respect, it would be great on a degustation or similar. Drink 2025-2030.
