STAGE 1 – Team Time Trial – Barcelona to Barcelona – 184.2 km

Founded in 1884 just outside Barcelona, Yzaguirre is one of Spain's great traditional vermouth houses. For well over a century the family has specialised in aromatised wines, blending carefully selected base wines with a closely guarded mix of herbs, spices and botanicals. While vermouth has enjoyed a worldwide renaissance in recent years, Yzaguirre has quietly continued producing some of Spain's benchmark examples, remaining a favourite in bars and homes across Catalonia.

Although the Tour quickly leaves Spain for France, it seems only fitting to begin with one of Barcelona's great aperitifs. Built on a white wine base and infused with more than 80 herbs and botanicals, the Blanco balances gentle sweetness with citrus peel, alpine herbs and subtle spice. Served simply over ice with a slice of citrus and a bowl of salty olives, it is one of the world's great pre-dinner drinks and the perfect way to toast the Grand Départ.
