SPECIAL VALUE - This year's release sees a blend of 56/24/20% mataro/cinsault/grenache. Red plum, red cherry and raspberry fruits with some cranberry high tones and hints of exotic spice, amaro, drying meadow flowers, dried citrus rind, biltong and ginger. Febrile and filigreed with a snappy, spacious mouthfeel and line, some sour cherry and red plum acidity swooping up at the back end. Great drinking. DAVE BROOKES, James Halliday's Wine Companion

A sheet of flavour and a sheet of tannin. This is a red wine that's warm, intricate and light-on-its-feet. Earth, rust, raspberry, clove and woodsmoke characters with flashes of earthen spice. A bit of reduction here has been put to positive effect. It's a bit of a treat. It's lovely, lively, light-but-insistent. CAMPBELL MATTINSON
