Sourced from 17.05 Hectares of high density vines aged between 30 & 80 years old. Vinified using wild yeasts and aged in old oak barrels.
Nicolas Potel is, in my opinion, one of the great young talents in Burgundy today. What is perhaps most remarkable is that he manages to produce a bevy of brilliant wines, that are sadly only ever available in tiny quantities, from his Domaine label while also releasing wines, in larger volumes, from his Negociant business which are always excellent and great value. He makes it very clear whenever you speak with him that he treats these wines with the same care and consideration as his Domaine bottlings. The Rouge is a cracking little drop in 2016 with smashed red and blackberriy fruits overlayed with subtle savoury spice. The palate opens with tight and clean fruits and supple tannins that cut the fine form. Hard to beat for the money. PWS
