The 2022 Riesling Kiedricher Turmberg Erste Lage was grown on mica schist with just 30 cm of topsoil in a lateral valley. It was made from very healthy grapes, with some skin contact, fermented spontaneously in Doppelstück and Stück and aged on fine lees. The nose is vivid with flickers of bergamot surrounding Reine Claude plums. The palate is immediately framed in citrus freshness. A zesty, aromatic allure combines greenish citrus with bright lemon. The palate has substance, but the citric notion is insistent, aromatic and mouthwatering. There is almost a flicker of mint in the background. The palate is concentrated, slender, bright, taut and straight-laced. There's a lovely citrus finish. The 2022 is sophisticated, cool and serene. (Bone-dry) ANNE KREBIEHL MW, Vinous
