Valli Wines Supper Offer
His wines are suffused with personality and charm and Grant obviously has an
acute understanding of what makes great Pinot Noir. ROBERT PARKER, The
Wine Advocate
Most Central Otago winemakers are linked to a
single subregion. Grant Taylor launched his Valli label "with the aim of
creating true representations of Otago's sub-regions with unflinching intensity
and purity
He's been making wine in Central Otago since 1993, mostly as
winemaker for Gibbston Valley (tastings). Taylor's intimate knowledge of his
much-loved region, his passion to make high-quality wine and his experience as a
Central Otago winemaker helped him to rapidly achieve his goal to produce
benchmark sub-regional styles. BOB CAMPBELL MW
We have
long been fans of the wines from Valli. From inception, under the guidance of
Grant Taylor, they bucked the trend of the typical Central Otago fair by
delivering wines with detail, focus, and energy. While many in the region
continued to chase the market with homogenised and cooky-cutter expressions that
were full of fruit and plenty of charm but not a lot of character, Grant moved
in a wholly different direction.
His focus on releasing wines that
embraced and highlighted the many nuances to be found in the sub-regions of
Central Otago was groundbreaking. Even today, while many are embracing a similar
vision, Valli continues to deliver pinot noir with remarkable purity, clarity,
and terroir imprint that has few peers.
Today, Grant works closely with
chief winemaker Jen Parr who was named NZ Winemaker of the Year in 2020 Gourmet
Traveller Wine among her many accolades and achievements. She is an absolute
talent and has been integral in keeping Valli at the top of the Central Otago
tree.
