As a partner of David Jones both online and in situe at the
Elizabeth Street store, this is the first time we have the
opportunity to host one of our major tasting events for David Jones
customers. For the last 30 years we have hosted Australia’s
greatest, most comprehensive and eclectic Champagne tasting events.
We’re delighted to be able to share that legacy and passion for the
greatest sparkling wines in the world with you.
Being voted by Wine Enthusiast magazine as one of the top 10
iconic wine stores in the world (and the only one in the southern
hemisphere) Prince Wine Store does things a little differently to
the average wine store. When it comes to Champagne we don’t just
concentrate on the “big houses” - not that there’s anything wrong
with them and you’ll see the good ones tonight - but Champagne has
been undergoing a quiet revolution in recent years and the quality
from smaller less well-known producers is remarkable if you know
where to look. That’s our job!
This offer some of the greatest of the new
grower-champagne movement alongside the established houses. While
less well known these producers are spearheading a movement of
quality that is dominating the wine lists of the world as sommeliers
look for a unique expression and connection to place. Many of the
wines you’ll see tonight are now cult makers and are coming to
dominate the landscape of Champagne more generally. Their success is
forcing change on the bigger more staid houses and as a result, the
whole genre is getting better and better.
