Revello & Fenocchio Masterclass

The 2020 Barolo Giachini comes across as quite closed today. The aromatics are expressive, and yet the wine feels much more reticent on the palate. Sweet red cherry, leather, pipe tobacco, cedar and dried flowers open with great reluctance. It will be interesting to see if time in bottle helps this come together a bit more fully. Refined, complex and nuanced nose with grainy minerals, grapefruit, white pepper and a mossy edge. Transparent but broad on the palate with lots of crushed wet stones and a tight, nervy finish.
