Regional Tasting Series: Margaret River
Margaret River is the closest thing to paradise of any wine region I have visited in my extensive search for knowledge. JANCIS ROBINSON MW
The top rank of Margaret River Chardonnay and Cabernet SAuvigon is, simply put, in the top rank in the world. And by that, I am including the likes of Burgundy (for the Chardonnay) and Bordeaux and Nappa Valley (for Cabernet Sauvignon). MATT KRAMER, Wine Spectator
There is no denying the breathtaking beauty and majesty of the Margaret River. An ancient lands full of natural beauty, pierced with fresh coastal air and a gentle warmth that permeates it to its heart. For one of one of the world's youngest wine regions it has quickly grown to garner both local and international acclaim and prestige in a relatively short time. It produces some of the country's finest examples of cabernet and chardonnay from many of Australia's most iconic wineries leading the world by example.
Surrounded by ocean on three sides the cooling breezes temper the glowing sun
and warmth of its southern exposures creates a long, mild and Mediterranean
climate. Combine that with its ancient, low nutrient and free draining soils it
makes it the perfect place to grow grapes of the highest calibre.
From humble
beginning it has grown to symbolize the best of the best of the Australian wine
scene.
