Moss Wood New Release Tasting
We are hosting
Moss Wood this month to taste their latest vintage releases, being 2022 for the
reds (including a very small amount of the Cabernet Sauvignon) and 2024 for the
Chardonnay.
Regarding these two growing seasons,
Moss Wood summarises its excellently detailed notes by saying, of 2022, “Mother
Nature was in a very benign frame of mind... Overall, we were pleased with how
things had gone and we had no problems with fungal disease or bird damage and so
the fruit was in excellent condition when harvest began”. So it sounds like a
solid vintage from a relatively straightforward season.
And, of 2024, “Looking back, the 2024 vintage stands as a reminder of
what Margaret River is capable of in warm, dry years. If history is any guide,
it may well be remembered alongside 1995 as one of the greats.” Wow… how
exciting!
