ubiquitous in the world of wine. And right now, there is no doubt Australian
chardonnay is the best it has ever been. Here, we celebrate its myriad of styles
and the world class versions we are seeing released every year. Whether it's
from established stars and legends of the industry or from the next generation
of winemaker making their mark, we have to consider ourselves pretty lucky to be
a part of it all.
To celebrate all that is great about this wonderful varietal, every year James Halliday pits many of the country's best chardonnays against each other in the James Halliday Chardonnay Challenge. The competition was born in the Yarra Valley in 2012, its quest, to find the nation's best. We have been fortunate to gather a selection of some of the country's regional trophy winners from the 2022 competition running and below is an exciting snapshot of what this wonderful varietal is doing today.
Of course, we are always stunned by just how much great chardonnay is around and with so much to chose from we wanted to put together our own selection to show you just how good we have it these days. Many of the wines have been part of the top selection from previous years Halliday Challenge and many are wines you may have heard us talk up before.
