Lanessan 2020

Lanessan 2020The 2020 Lanessan is impressive, to say the least. Dark, layered and mysterious, the 2020 packs serious punch, the blackberry jam, incense, scorched earth and leather all melding together. I especially admire the wine's depth and textural intensity. Beautifully done. ANTONIO GALLONI
Readers looking for a great buy in the vintage should check out the 2020 Château Lanessan, which offers ample dark (almost blue) fruits, cassis, and spring flower notes to go with a medium-bodied, nicely concentrated, balanced beauty that has enough tannins and structure to warrant 2-4 years of bottle age. JEB DUNNUCK
Sporting a deep purple-black color, the 2020 Lanessan has a lively nose of crushed redcurrants, black raspberries and blackcurrant preserves, plus hints of dried Provence herbs and pencil shavings. The medium-bodied palate has plenty of energetic red and black berry flavors, supported by grainy tannins, finishing deliciously refreshing. WINE ADVOCATEVery beautiful, fine-tannined red with blackberry and blueberry character. Lovely chocolate and hazelnut undertones. Fine tannins. Fresh finish. JAMES SUCKLING
The 2020 Lanessan presents a very perfumed nose of dark cherries, cassis, cedar and background tobacco aromas, turning quite minty with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, a crisp line of acidity, plenty of tightly wound black fruit and a saline finish. This is a classy Lanessan, quite complex and intense yet refined. NEAL MARTIN
Nicely textured from the start with tannins that are softly grainy giving a weight and frame to the red berry fruit with herbal edges. This has a both a sour and savoury tang which gives the wine character and energy. Nice high acidity with some bitter dark chocolate edges, subtle liquorice, creamy/chalky raspberries and some salty minerality. Lots going on here - still a little tense, this hasn't softened and expanded fully but there's excellent potential. Will be delicious. DECANTER
Flowers, cigar wrapper, mint, black, and red currants, and a hint of toasty oak create the perfume. On the palate, the wine is round, supple, fresh, and fruity with layers of sweet, ripe, clean, juicy currants with a touch of peppery spice in the finish. Drink it within a year or two of age, and enjoy it for at least 15 or more years after that Drink from 2024-2040. JEFF LEVE, Wine Cellar Insider
