  1. Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Spatlese 2023
Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Spatlese 2023
What a haunting beauty this fabulously elegant Spatlese is. The cool, slightly limey freshness exactly balances delicate grape sweetness. This lies right on the borderline of light-bodied and medium-bodied, but the way it does that and simultaneously walks the tightrope of sweetness and dryness is what makes this so exciting. Drink or hold. (95) STUART PIGOTT

The 2023 Riesling Brauneberger Juffer Spätlese is initially shy on the nose and requires air to reveal its pale lemon scent with a hint of passionfruit. The palate offers slender, cool, bright freshness with a delightful lemon and passionfruit tartness that tingles and shimmers. Moving solely on tiptoe, this wine dances under your skin. 2. Fritz Haag Feinherb Riesling 2023
    Fritz Haag Feinherb Riesling 2023
A very elegant dry Mosel riesling with restrained, juicy white peach and crisp pear fruit plus stacks of dripping flowers and leaves (think of a garden after summer rain). Long, very clean, stony finish. Drink or hold. (94) STUART PIGOTT

  3. Gunderloch Riesling Rothenberg Grosses Gewachs 2023
Gunderloch Riesling Rothenberg Grosses Gewachs 2023
This stunning expression of the great Rothenberg site is still very tightly wound, the flintiness very pronounced in the first moment, the delicate white peach and wild berry fruit expanding like a rosebud slowly opening during a period of cool weather. Underplayed power and concentration on the extremely precise, medium-bodied palate. Tremendous finesse in the very long, filigreed finish. (97) STUART PIGOTT, James Suckling

Gunderloch's 2023 Rothenberg Nackenheim Riesling VDP.GG impresses with a deep, very clear and terroir-influenced nose of Rotliegend rock, along with elegant fruit aromas of ripe stone fruit and herbal-spicy notes. Gentle and elegant on the palate, dense and balanced and juicy, carried by elegant, ripe acidity, this Rothenberg develops a concentrated and long-lasting finish that reflects the warm vintage as well as the good water supply. It is persistently salty, with citrusy freshness in the complex aftertaste. STEPHAN REINHARDT, Wine Advocate

The 2023 Riesling Nackenheimer Rothenberg Grosses Gewächs still rings with the finest flinty reduction on the nose. Underneath comes a gorgeous streak of pink grapefruit peel, lifted, serene and almost heady with crushed lemongrass and lemon balm. The palate is buffered but shows a clear vein of agile fluidity and serene, sleek, dynamic movement. Leaving gorgeous traces of stony, irony, savory saltiness and unfolding with Seville orange and tangerine, it's layered, beautiful, soothing, refreshing and long. Citrus zest lingers on the finish ANNE KREBIEHL MW

  7. Eva Fricke Kiedrich Riesling Trocken 2023
Eva Fricke Kiedrich Riesling Trocken 2023
The 2023 Kiedrich is deep, intense and complex on the remarkably bright, refined and elegant, saline and flinty nose. Full-bodied, rich yet elegant, fresh and saline on the palate, this is an expressive village Riesling with a remarkably intense and complex minerality that not only balances the power and full body of this stunningly persistent village wine but also uplifts its complex finish. Is it really a village wine and not a hidden, long undiscovered grand cru? The finish is intense, saline and long and reveals fine tannins, citric notes and a blend of calcareous and slatey features. 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024. (94) STEPHAN REINHARDT, The Wine Avocate

The 2023 Riesling Kiedrich is from loess and loam soils. A flinty crackle of reduction still swings along, but green pear peel and supple lemon also emerge. The palate is light, smooth and gentle, with a lemony poise and a slightly pithy texture. Pure and vivid, it closes with a long, tangy, lime-tinged finish. (Bone-dry) ANNE KREBIEHL MW, Vinous

  8. Wagner Stempel Heerkretz GG Riesling 2023
Wagner Stempel Heerkretz GG Riesling 2023
The 2023 Riesling Siefersheimer Heerkretz Grosses Gewächs comes from around 20-year-old parcels on porphyry. Vivid bergamot and flint are deliciously heady on the nose, going straight to the sinuses and spelling pleasure. The palate is vivid, citric, tangy, pristine and so stony, salty and linear. A gentle sense of pith propels this forward, filling all the senses with heightened citrus tones. What a ride. (Bone-dry) (97) ANNE KREBIEHL MW, Vinous

The 2023 Riesling Heerkretz GG has a deep, very fine and clear bouquet of white and yellow peach, with notes of mango and hints of fine salt. Juicy, fine and elegant on the palate, the 2023 Heerkretz displays ripe, delicate acidity and a complex, intense length with lasting mineral depth and fine tannins. Once again, this is an impressive Riesling from the lofty heights above Siefersheim. Tasted at the Vorpremiere VDP.Grosses Gewächs in Wiesbaden in August 2024. 9. Wagner Stempel Riesling Trocken 2023
    Wagner Stempel Riesling Trocken 2023
The 2023 Riesling is from the younger vines and lower reaches of the Grosse Lagen of Höllberg and Heerkretz, all fermented spontaneously in both stainless steel and wood. Exquisitely aromatic Seville orange and bergamot peel come with a sexy touch of flint. The palate is all juiciness, energy and elan, flowing with abandon and spraying with fruit, aroma, purity and freshness. This is incredibly lively, bone-dry and vivid. (Bone-dry).
