The 2022 Côte de Brouilly La Chapelle comes from vines located at the highest part of the slope. It has a fabulous nose with pure black cherries and blueberry fruit, touches of rose petal and blood orange. Underneath, there is a slight chalkiness that evolves in the glass. The palate is outstanding with plush red berry fruit, satiny texture and a perfect line of acidity. There is something luxuriant about this La Chapelle, though its location on the higher contours means there is adequate tension. One of the wines of the vintage? Most certainly. A standout in the château's lineup, the 2022 Côte de Brouilly La Chapelle, derived from 70- to 80-year-old vines, wafts from the glass with aromas of wild cherries, red plums, lilac petals, underbrush and baking spices. On the medium to full-bodied palate, the wine reveals terrific depth and complexity, layered with supple, tangy cherry fruits and a wet stone salinity that imparts tension. Here, finely woven tannins assert themselves gently on the cheeks, while ripe acids lend a sense of precision and contrast to the concentration of flavor, crafting an experience as refined as it is robust.
