Domaine De Bellene 2021s

This comes from two plots have been part of the Domaine since 2006 and cover 38.51 ares. They were planted in 1971 on a quality rootstock, giving them late maturity. From Les Peuillets and Hauts Jarrons

Cask sample. Mid cherry. Red berries, redcurrants. Moderate body and quite linear. There’s a roundness to the classically Pinot character of the wine that is very attractive. Clean and fresh, with ripe red fruits, soft, well-knit tannins and good length. MATTHEW HAYES

Once again there is very good volume and excellent vibrancy to the sleek and delicious medium weight flavors that display good balance on the sappy and dusty finish. This has enough development potential to reward up to a decade of cellaring. BURGHOUND

There is very good color to the exuberantly floral-suffused nose, in particular violet, that is comprised mostly by notes of black cherry and earth that are trimmed in discreet wood influence. There is excellent density and vibrancy to the bigger bodied flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the dusty and bitter chocolate-inflected finish. This well-made effort is very much built to age and I would recommend not touching a bottle for at least 7 to 8 years. (Outstanding) BURGHOUND

This is also exuberantly floral in character with notes of rose petal, lilac, and violet on the earthy red berry fruit aromas though there is a hint of volatile acidity lurking in the background. The rich, velvety and seductively textured medium weight flavors exude evident minerality on the firm, serious and youthfully austere finish. (OUTSTANDING) - BURGHOUND

Cask sample. Mid cherry. Quite floral on the nose, with red cherries and rose. Medium-plus body and suave tannins contrast with something totally open and immediately approachable. This is very tasty. Lovely with a lifted, floral finish. www,jancisrobinson.com
