DJs Italian Wine & Cheese Tasting 2025

Margaret River, with its Mediterranean climate, ancient well-draining gravelly soils and strong maritime influences (it enjoys the ocean on three sides!), has often been compared to Bordeaux. And for good reason. Here, Cabernet Sauvignon reigns supreme and the region has the ability to produce wonderful Bordeaux-style blends.

In the Bordeaux vein, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon are also popular, but what makes them quintessential Margaret River is that signature 'grassy' undertone.

Though not a Bordeaux varietal, the region has also really made a name for itself when it comes to outstanding Chardonnay.

Come and journey to Margaret River with us as we taste what one of the world's most isolated wine regions has to offer.

Morello cherries, fresh bouquets and a touch of geraniums. Creamy tannins on the palate, with fleshy cherries and plums. Juicy, brambly and pristine medium-length finish. Drink now. ZEKUN SHUAI. James Suckling

  2. Correggia Roero Arneis 2023
    Correggia Roero Arneis 2023
Pear, apple, a little green herb, some perfume, candle wax and smoked almond. It’s medium-bodied, bright and has good flavour, though not too much, and it keeps itself trim with some light citrus bite, a slightly waxy texture, some chalkiness, and offers a finish of good length with some preserved lemon tang. It’s well-balanced and drinks very well. Nice. GARY WALSH, The Wine Front

  3. Benanti Etna Rosso 2022
    Benanti Etna Rosso 2022
The 2022 Etna Rosso wafts up with a perfumed blend of rosy florals and hints of juniper berry. This is vividly fruit-focused, with a wave of ripe wild berries and sweet spices that flow across a stream of brisk acidity. It leaves a staining of primary concentration and mildly grippy tannins to resonate as violet inner florals slowly fade. While more extroverted than expected, the 2022 is a total pleasure to taste and maintains fantastic balance. ERIC GUIDO, Vinous

An iconic winery from Etna and one of the few with vineyards on all four slopes, Benanti has played a major role in the region’s rise. Considered a seminal, high-quality producer, they helped put Etna firmly on the global wine map. Their wines combine volcanic energy with elegance and structure.
