DJs Burgundy Under The Radar Tasting June 2025

Beyond the glow of Grand or Premier Cru fame lies a patchwork of lesser-known villages and outlying regions that quietly produce Pinot Noir of remarkable elegance, honesty, and sense of place. This tasting invites you to step off the well-worn Côte d’Or trail and into the hidden corners of Burgundy — where tradition runs deep, terroir whispers instead of shouts, and value still thrives.

These wines may not carry the cachet of a Grand Cru label, but they deliver character, typicity, and a glimpse into Burgundy’s more soulful, undiscovered side.

We have events on every Thursday from 6pm-7:30pm. To keep up to date, check the 'Event's page on our website or follow us on instagram @pwscity

Domaine Chanzy Bourgogne Pinot Noir Les Fortunes 2022
Le fortunee- fruit is from 4 lots (1 in Bouzeron and 3 in Mercurey) Darker fruits, spice, blue and black fruit to the fore. Fleshy, ripe, pleasing pithy tannins, some nice warmth to the palate too. Bit of mid-pallet fruit push that is spiked with dark roast spice and earthy notes. Nice generosity but still snappy.

Domaine de Bellene Bourgogne Rouge Maison Dieu VV 2022

Ripe deeply pitched aromas include those of pungent earth, various dark berries and whiff of spice. The delicious, caressing and supple middleweight flavors possess a relatively refined texture for what this is though it contrasts with the slightly rustic finale...it is a quality Bourgogne. BURGHOUND - OUTSTANDING TOP VALUE

2022 yielded a ripe and fruity, polished and approachable Bourgogne rouge from domaine vines, supple, plush and immediately engaging. I love the balance achieved, the fluidity on the palate, the seamless acids intermingled with very fine-grained tannins. Length is excellent. Very refined and sophisticated wine, one that delivers well above its humble appellation, and drinking well even now, though cellerable into the late '20s without concern. 3. Francois Carillon Bourgogne Rouge 2022
    Francois Carillon Bourgogne Rouge 2022
The François Carillon Domaine, created in 2010, is the long-lasting legacy of a wine family business that dates back to the 16th century in Puligny-Montrachet, a well renown wine village in south of the Côte de Beaune. Located in the heart of the village, the estate owns and manages today sixteen hectares of vines across 21 vineyards located in Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin.
The Carillon family have been growing grapes in Puligny-Montrachet for almost 500 years: old written sources found in Puligny narrate the life and work of Jean Carillon as early as 1520.
The Bourgogne Côte d'Or Pinot Noir is vintaged from 60+ year old vines in Puligy-Montrachet and Corpeau. Destemmed and cold macerated, the must is lightly punched down before being racked into barrel (10% new) with an average of 12 months before bottling.

Notes of strawberries, cherries, blackberries and baking spice. A touch of minerality and a hint of floral. Fruit from old vines - smashing good value! PWS
