Christmas Spirits
We love a good Christmas tipple and today we are spoilt for choice with so many amazing options. Being a little warmer than most places at Christmas in Australia gin is a must and we have couple of our favourites below. Vermouth is blowing up these days too, and it seems to be the perfect aperitif for hot days and summer nights. You have to have at least one on hand for your favourite Negroni to so make sure you grab a red and a white. Of course, what would some balmy night be without a little spritz and this year its all about Canonita baby! This incredible Aperol alternative is based on specialty Mallorcan oranges and makes the perfect summer spritz. Its even great on its on or with a dash of tonic or soda. Reciupe below.
For something a little different we have also included some brilliant Pinneua de Charante from the legends at Mery Melrose this unique cognac-based drink is perfect over ice or with a dash of soda and will have you whiling away the wee hours of the afternoon in pure bliss. Canonita! What is it? Think Aperol but better. Ok. Bold statement but this stuff is absolutely delicious. It's made from the best organic Canoneta oranges from Mallorca's Sóller Valley.
The Valley is located on Mallorca's northwest coast and sheltered by the Tramuntana mountains is a magic place. Thanks to its unique terroir it is the centre of citrus cultivation in Mallorca for over a 1000 years and the valley is theoriginal home of the highly aromatic Canoneta orange, considered the "queen of oranges".

Tamnavulin Double Cask Single Malt 700ml
This is the first release from the distillery since the 1990s. The distillery has changed hands over the last 20 years from Invergordon Distillers to Whyte & MacKay. For a period, it was closed and much of its single malt output was/is used in blends. There were a few sneaky barrels of special release over the years but now there is their own expression and it is delicious! Maturation is started in American oak barrels before a finishing period in Sherry casks - our favourite! What a drop for the money and puts many of the more expensive blends and single malts to shame.
Its lush, rich and warm with plenty of deep malty, sweet flavour. Brown sugar, stewed apples and dusty cocoa, double cream on the nose. Plum and Christmas pudding with a lovely spiced rum and toffee finish. Perfect winter warmer. Myles, PWS

Copper Rivet Dockyard Gin 500ml 41.2% alcDistilled using locally grown barley and Kentish water, this is as fresh and bright as a sunny spring day in the countryside. Elegant and refined gin, with a lovely, half floral, half herbal lift. I tasted it before learning what botanicals had been used in its production, and suspect its fragrant quality comes from the local elderflowers. MAX ALLEN
