  1. Massolino Barbaresco Albesani 2020 1500ml
    Massolino Barbaresco Albesani 2020 1500ml
The 2020 Barbaresco Albesani has more substance and depth than the straight Barbaresco. The differences between the two wines today aren't that marked at the outset, but that comes with aeration. Macerated cherry, plum, spice, lavender, rose petal and sage develop with time in the glass. All of the richness and power of Albesani comes through. For readers who want to understand what Albesani is all about, this is it! ANTONIO GALLONI, Vinous

From the village of Neive, the Massolino 2020 Barbaresco Albesani shows more balance at this young age next to the estate's classic Barbaresco. This single-vineyard expression also has more depth with dark berry nuances, cassis, blue flower and crushed limestone. Those floral aromas emerge with pretty intensity. The wine's tannins are very fine and silky. Some 4,000 bottles were made. (94) MONICA LARNER, The Wine Advocate

  2. Vietti Barolo Monvigliero 2019 1500ml
    Vietti Barolo Monvigliero 2019 1500ml

    2 BOTTLES AVAILABLE

The 2019 Barolo Monvigliero is stunning. What a wine. Rich, heady and explosive, the 2019 is a gorgeous, spherical Barolo that dazzles right out of the gate. Aromatically broad and expansive, the 2019 fleshes out beautifully in the glass. Bright red-toned fruit, orange zest, mint, spice and bright saline notes saturate the palate on the back end. The 2019 is a total stunner, even in this stage of youthful austerity. It comes across as a bit rustic compared to the 2018, but the final verdict on that won't be evident for at least a number of years. This is the first vintage that includes a second parcel in Monvigliero. In the cellar, one lot saw submerged cap maceration, the other did not. (97+)ANTONIO GALLONI, Vinous

  4. Querciabella Chianti Classico 2021 1500ml
    Querciabella Chianti Classico 2021 1500ml

The 2021 Chianti Classico is fabulous. Bright and punchy, with terrific resonance, this wine shows just how compelling the vintage is. Readers will find a Chianti Classico of dynamic energy and volume. Dark red cherry, purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal, spice and a gentle kiss of French oak build into the sumptuous, vibrant finish. Superb. The 2021 was aged in 500-liter barrels (5-6% new) for 14 months and is a blend of fruit from Greve, Gaiole and Radda. ANTONIO  GALLONI, Vinous

This has a fresh character with ripe cherries and raspberries as well as dried flowers, bark and stones. Polished and textural with a medium body and vivid acidity. Focused and fresh with chalky tannin structure and a linear finish with notes of citrus and minerals. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. JAMES SUCKLING

A saturated purple/magenta hue, the 2021 Chianti Classico is lush and fresh with aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, violet, and fresh leather. Plush and inviting, with bright acidity along the sides of the palate shining through, it offers a velvety texture with a long finish. It’s polished but not oaky and has a very refined feel, with medium to full body and a long and balanced finish. Drink 2026-2040. JEB DUNNUCK

This red is precise, offering cherry, raspberry, rose, iron and tobacco flavors fused to a steely, dense and vibrant structure. Balanced and intense, building to a long aftertaste infused with fruit and mineral notes. Best from 2026 through 2045. BRUCE SANDERSON, Wine Spectator

Rizzi Barbaresco Riserva Boito 2019 1500ml
Balsamic aromas of eucalyptus mingle with underbrush, violet, spice and tobacco. Full-bodied and vibrant, the palate offers pomegranate, ground clove, blood orange and star anise alongside firm, tightly wound tannins and bright acidity. It's still quite austere so give it a few more years to unwind. KERRIN O'KEEFE

    Rizzi Barbaresco Pajore 2020 1500ml
Menthol, dark spice, resin and violet are some of the aromas that come to the forefront on this full-bodied red. On the linear, focused palate, firm, fine-grained tannins accompany sour cherry, pomegranate, blood orange and star anise. It's still rather austere and needs a few more years to fully come around. Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Ovello Riserva 2020 1500ml
The 2020 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello is a massive, packed wine. Graphite, crushed rocks, dried herbs and cedar open first. Ovello tends to produce a more linear style of Barbaresco, and that is very much the case here as well. However, the 2020 also possesses notable depth and layers in the mid-palate. It's a gorgeous wine in the making. ANTONIO GALLONI

  11. Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Aslli Riserva 2020- 1500ml
Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Aslli Riserva 2020- 1500ml

Gorgeous perfumes of flowers and dark fruit with orange peel. Full-bodied with plenty of fruit and firm and integrated tannins. Thick silky texture. Fresh in the finish. It goes on for minutes. (98) JAMES SUCKLING

Good deep red. Brooding aromas and flavours of ripe red cherry, blood orange, star anise, camphor and sweet spices. At once multilayered and complex, with polished if noteworthy tannins providing backbone and guaranteeing a long and graceful evolution over time. And this will need plenty of it in a good cellar, in order to showcase all it has to offer. (96+) IAN D'AGATA

Bottled in 2022, the Asili Riserva slowly divulges plum blossoms, cherry, crushed allspice and a touch of incense. The palate is effortlessly balanced with the silkiest mouthfeel and extraordinary freshness. I love the dark earthiness that emerges with a faint touch of tar. The tannins are tightly knit, demonstrating an elegance that will stand the test of time. Like several of her peers, Bruna Giacosa compares 2020 to 2000, describing the pair as more elegant than the structured vintages of 2021 and 2001 which have their own resemblance. She voices her preference for the former duo. MICHAELA MORRIS, decanter

  12. Bruno Giacosa AA Falletto Barolo 'Falletto' 2021 - 1500ml
Bruno Giacosa AA Falletto Barolo 'Falletto' 2021 - 1500ml

In the great years when a Barolo ‘Falletto Vigna Le Rocche’ are produced, the fruit for Barolo ‘Falletto’ comes from all but the very top parts of the Falletto vineyard. In most vintages, this wine is the most ready of the Barolos and shows Giacosa’s sweetly fruited Nebbiolo in the shortest window after opening.

You feel the signature of an elegant vintage in the superbly direct and focused Bruno Giacosa 2021 Barolo Falletto. This beautiful wine offers bright berry fruit, blue flower and crushed stone. This is a complete wine, with aromatic intensity that is matched to the depth of mouthfeel and structure. We can expect a red label Barolo Riserva Falletto Vigna Le Rocche from the 2020 vintage to be released in 2026 and a 2021 edition to be released in 2027. That will certainly be something to look forward to. The Riserva was previously made in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017. (97) MONICA LARNER

In the far southeast of Barolo, Giacosa’s 9ha monopoly shines in 2021. Made from vines with an average age of 35 years, Falletto flirts rather than flaunts. Red and black currants establish a backdrop from which iron, sage, bay leaf and liquorice root arise. Elegance, polish and precision are impeccably demonstrated, as is immense freshness, with racy acidity giving mouth cleansing vibrancy and energy. The tannins are fine-grained and silky, building up steadily in dignified strength around a core of pulverised stone. Pressed rose and lilac perfume the finish. 6,820 bottles and a few hundred magnums produced. The red label Riserva Vigne Le Rocche 2021 will be released in 2027. (98) MICHAELA MORRIS, decanter

  13. Cappellano Barolo Pie Franco 2020 1500ml
Cappellano Barolo Pie Franco 2020 1500ml
The 2020 Barolo Piè Franco is a wine of dimension, class and personality. It's hard to know where to focus first, as the 2020 offers so much to satisfy both the intellectual and hedonistic senses. The aromas alone are so complex. That theme continues on the palate, where the Franco is beautifully layered and simply captivating. Readers who can latch onto a few bottles are in for a real treat. The Franco is one of the most satisfying Barolos of the year. I loved it. Many years ago Baldo Cappellano asked me not to score his wines, so all Cappellano wines show up on our database as NR. 14. Vajra Barolo Bricco Delle Viole 2020 1500ml
Vajra Barolo Bricco Delle Viole 2020 1500ml
The 2020 Barolo Bricco delle Viole, Vajra's flagship, is very fine. Dark cherry, kirsch, blood orange, spice and lavender are nicely amplified. The 2020 is gracious and elegant, but its youthful Nebbiolo tannins will require some time to soften. The 2020 is another wine that captures my keen interests with its sublime balance. I would be thrilled to own it. (96) ANTONIO GALLONI, Vinous

The G.D. Vajra 2020 Barolo Bricco delle Viole is a very pretty wine with brightness and delicate aromas that remain etched and defined. You get dried violet or lilac, tart cherry, cranberry, lavender essence, rosemary and other perfumed Mediterranean nuances. Bricco delle Viole finishes dry, and the tannins are on the powdery side, giving the wine medium weight and a lean mid-palate. (95) MONICA LARNER, The Wine Advocate

  15. Vietti Barolo Brunate 2021 1500ml
    Vietti Barolo Brunate 2021 1500ml
The 2021 Barolo Brunate is especially fine this year. Rich, deep and quite potent, the Brunate is so expressive. It exudes textural density to match its decidedly virile personality. Strong spice and balsamic notes weave throughout a core of somber, dark-fleshed fruit. ANTONIO GALLONI

  16. Vietti Barolo Monvigliero 2021 1500ml
    Vietti Barolo Monvigliero 2021 1500ml
The learning curve in Monviglierois always steep (first vintage 2018) , or so most winemakers tell me, because very few can go to 100% whole-cluster fermentation. Indeed, the 2021 Barolo Monviglierosees 60% whole clusters. The Vietti team is experienced, and this wine is pristine. This vintage was harvested on September 30th, and maceration was a bit shorter, at 20 days. The wine shows a delicate film of pink salt with garden herbs, lemon leaves and spring flowers. It is a wine of extreme elegance, but I find that this vintage is especially Mediterranean in character. (97) MONICA LARNER.

  17. E. Pira Barolo Chiara Boschis Barolo Mosconi 2021 3000ml
    E. Pira Barolo Chiara Boschis Barolo Mosconi 2021 3000ml
The 2021 Barolo Mosconi is ample, creamy and resonant in the glass in its first impression. Dark red/blue fruits, leather, lavender, spice and menthol build with some coaxing. There's plenty of Mosconi substance, but Chiara Boschis has done a terrific job in taming the tannins here. This is one of the most refined wines I have ever tasted from the Mosconi cru. Time in the glass brings out the wine's structural presence, while floral overtones and insistent tannins support the driving finish. ANTONIO GALLONI
