Burgundy 2022 Showcase Sydney

100% Meursault fruit from two small lieu-dits (Les Clous Perrons and les Magnys) with vines dating back to 1951.
This is a baby Meursault by nature. All the fruit comes from Meursault with some lovely old vines adding intensity and complexity. A delicious overachiever, it lures you in with notes of white nectarines, honey and wet stones. There’s lovely depth to the fruit that’s lassoed together by a minerally tension and fine chewy quince-like phenolics on the finish. This is open and ready to devour, it’s an irresistible Bourgogne blanc. GABRIELLE POY

Attractively spicy aromas include those of green apple and plenty of citrus wisps. The racy, delicious, detailed and nicely textured flavors exude a subtle minerality on the mildly austere, refreshing and inviting finish. This isn't especially complex but it's so vibrant that one feels like drinking it. BURGHOUND

Hints of mineral reduction and Granny Smith apples add breadth to the citrus-infused aromas of pear. The caressing, delicious and vibrant flavors are not especially dense though the lightly stony finish is crisp and refreshing. To enjoy young. BURGHOUND

Ripe deeply pitched aromas include those of pungent earth, various dark berries and whiff of spice. The delicious, caressing and supple middleweight flavors possess a relatively refined texture for what this is though it contrasts with the slightly rustic finale...it is a quality Bourgogne. 2022 yielded a ripe and fruity, polished and approachable Bourgogne rouge from domaine vines, supple, plush and immediately engaging. I love the balance achieved, the fluidity on the palate, the seamless acids intermingled with very fine-grained tannins. Length is excellent. Very refined and sophisticated wine, one that delivers well above its humble appellation, and drinking well even now, though cellerable into the late '20s without concern. Cask sample. Intense, concentrated, so youthful but has so much future ahead. An impressive Vosne premier cru. Masses of extract, concentration, fine wood, bright acidity and purity on the finish. Leafy, dark-berry notes. A joyous example which will age for many decades. www.jancisrobinson.com

Here the nose is clean and bright with its ripe and lightly mentholated aromas of black cherry liqueur, spice and floral scents. The rich, suave and seductively textured flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract while delivering solid length on the powerful, dusty and firm finale. This is not a Suchots of finesse but it doesn't lack for character. BURGHOUND - = OUTSTANDING

The 2022 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Le Clos du Village is ample and fleshy, bursting with aromas of peach, clear honey, buttery pastry and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and pure, it's a pretty, charming white. WILLIAM KELLEY

The walls of the Clos make this an early ripener. Vines planted in 1997 but some which are on 161/49 need to be pulled out. Lemon and lime in colour. An attractive fresh nose, with a little bit of lime blossom. The palate has a delicious energy underpinned by the minerality of this site, it is generous but well balanced. Lovely wine. The 2022 Pernand-Vergelesses Les Vergelesses 1er Cru has a notably perfumed bouquet with redcurrant and raspberry fruit, wild heather and touches of potpourri. The palate is medium-bodied and very harmonious, with a fine bead of acidity and a degree of precision on the finish that does the appellation proud. Quality winemaking here—this comes highly recommended. NEAL MARTIN
