Bourgogne Battle

Bourgogne Battle

We have been seeing a lot of great Bourgogne Rouge and Bourgogne Blanc come across our tasting table recently and it's exciting to say the least. The quality of the "entry level" wines from many of the producers we have tried is pretty impressive and given the skyrocketing prices in the region they offer a bit of fresh air and welcome reprieve to the hip-pocket.

The upward trend of the category has been spurred on by a group of a conscientious producers from well-established houses through to relatively new estates and projects spearheaded by a new generation of winemakers. Improved vineyard practices and better sources of fruit have played a significant role in the uptick in quality while a larger proportion of declassified fruit from village level vineyards has been a boon for these regional level wines.

Whatever it is that is going on we like it and to prove how good it is out there we are putting on battle of sorts, pitting some of the best examples of Bourgogne Rouge and Blanc against each other. This will be a battle royal to see whose Bourgogne is best so join us on the day and cast your vote your favourite drop.
