  1. Cristom Mount Jefferson Pinot Noir 2021
Cristom Mount Jefferson Pinot Noir 2021
Visiting Willamette valley with Roscoe last year was great - but it was the wines from Cristom that really stole the show on this trip, there is a density and complexity to these wines that is hard to find outside of Burgundy. This Mt Jefferson Pinot Noir 2021 is a great introduction to the style - refined powerful and yet supper delicious right now. If this isn't one of the best young pinot you try this year I will have to find a new job. ALEX WILCOX, PWS

I’m incredibly impressed with the 2021s coming from the Cristom Estate, and this one is a perfect example of the phenomenal wines from the vintage. The Mt. Jefferson Estate Pinot Noir was just recently released, but it feels ready to drink now with impeccable balance, structure, and length. Notes of wild huckleberry, toasted anise, perfumed flowers, spiced red plum, and a hint of tangerine zest combine beautifully on the tongue. Delivering perfect balance, mouthwatering acidity, and rounded tannins, this will be a fun wine to watch over the next ten years to see how it evolves with age. 2. Elk Cove Goodrich Pinot Noir 2021
Elk Cove Goodrich Pinot Noir 2021
Subtle spice and wood is evident but in no means detracts from the rather enticing aromatics. Smoky, incense and deeply pitched, upfront fruit but overall the style is mid weight and fragrant with a bitter cherry clip that carries the fruit along a fine and detailed palate. Long and precise wine with ample grip and muscle, those bunchy elements help to contour and shape things while little bursts of minerality pique the interest. I don't know, think Pommard with a little more sensuality. ROSCOE

  3. Pike Road - By Elk Cove Chardonnay 2020
Pike Road - By Elk Cove Chardonnay 2020
Green apples, spiced nectarines, fennel and subtle nougat aromas on the nose allude to its underlying ripeness. On the palate, clever winemaking adds flavours of brioche and hazelnuts, adding to the wine's texture and flavour profile. Earthy notes of wet rocks and white button mushrooms temper the spice and fruit. The finish is pulled together by a lovely line of saline phenolics which adds to the tension and energy. 4. Elk Cove Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2021
Elk Cove Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2021

the dark ruby 2021 Pinot Noir Estate is ripe and sunny with aromas of blackberry, scorched earth, and violets. Full-bodied, with a silky texture, a stony mouthfeel, and notes of toasted cedar on the finish, it's supple and attractive now and will drink well over the next 3-5 years. JEB DUNNUCK

The 2021 Pinot Noir, made with about 15% whole clusters, has a medium ruby-purple color and pure scents of cranberries, baked rhubarb and allspice with wafts of forest floor, charcuterie and orange zest. The palate is light on its feet with generous, floral fruit, refreshing acidity and a soft, approachable frame, and it has a satisfying, spicy finish. ERIN BROOKES, Wine Advocate

Aromas of red plums, raspberries, oranges and pink peppercorns. Fresh, crunchy and delicious, with a medium body and silky, fine tannins. Crushed stone minerality at the end JAMES SUCKLING

  5. Elk Cove Mt Richmond Pinot Noir 2021
Elk Cove Mt Richmond Pinot Noir 2021

The 2021 Pinot Noir Mount Richmond has a medium ruby-purple color and is scented of black cherry and plum, tobacco leaves, smoked meats and orange peel. The medium-bodied palate is silky and refreshing, with generous, perfumed fruit and spicy accents driving the long finish. ERIN BROOKS, Wine Advocate

Pouring a nearly opaque ruby-red, the 2021 Pinot Noir Mount Richmond is darker and more introspective, with brooding notes of blackberry fruit, toasted baking spices, licorice, and scorched earth. Structured, full-bodied, and opulent, it takes on ripe tannins, white pepper spice, and ripe meaty fruit through the finish, with lingering notes of incense. This age-worthy red will need time to soften and open up. JEB DUNNUCK

  6. Elk Cove Five Mountain Pinot Noir 2021
Elk Cove Five Mountain Pinot Noir 2021
Medium ruby-purple, the 2021 Pinot Noir Five Mountain has deep aromas of cranberries, red cherries, black tea leaves, charcuterie and bitters. The medium-bodied palate explodes with concentrated, perfumed fruits. All that generosity is supported by silky tannins and bright, mouthwatering acidity that calls you in for another sip on the long, layered, spicy finish. What a lovely expression this vintage! ERIN BROOKS, Wine Advocate

Taking on more primary ripe floral and fruity aromas, with notes of red and blue fruit shining though, the 2021 Pinot Noir Five Mountain pours a deep ruby and offers generous enveloping aromas of candied purple flowers, blackberry, and an accent of toasted spice. Mouth-filling with fruit, this full-bodied red is generous with supple, sweet tannins and a rounded mouthfeel that's juicy all the way through the finish. It's going to benefit from another year or two in bottle so it can shed some of its baby fat to reveal more of its spiced notes. JEB DUNNUCK

  7. Elk Cove Clay Court Pinot Noir 2021
Elk Cove Clay Court Pinot Noir 2021
Medium ruby-purple, the 2021 Pinot Noir Clay Court has scents of wild berries, orange peel, charcuterie and forest floor with streaks of Christmas spice. The medium-bodied palate offers concentrated, layered fruit on a soft, juicy frame, and it has a long, spicy finish. It's easy to drink now, but it will benefit from another 2-3 years in the bottle. ERIN BROOKS, Wine Advocate

Deep ruby, the 2021 Pinot Noir Clay Court is layered with floral and spice notes as well as black raspberry liqueur, anise, mossy earth, and cracked pepper. Medium to full-bodied, with an elegant mouthfeel and a beautiful texture, it offers fine tannins and a silky, clean, rounded palate of fruit. Long on the palate and very well-balanced, it's hard to resist now, but I imagine this will improve over the next 6-8 years. JEB DUNNUCK

  8. Evening Land Seven Springs Chardonnay 2021
Evening Land Seven Springs Chardonnay 2021

From Rajat Parr and Sashi Moorman of Sandhi fame. Fruit for this estate wine comes from Burgundian clones rooted into a rockier section of Seven Springs’ mid-slope, which they believe plays into the texture and final flavor profile of the wine. Whole cluster pressed indigenous yeast fermentation in once-used puncheons and barriques. Aged 6 months in neutral barrique and 1 month in stainless steel. Cold stabilized and lightly fined with bentonite clay before bottling

  9. Cristom Eola Amity Hills Chardonnay 2021
Cristom Eola Amity Hills Chardonnay 2021

Winemaker Daniel Estrin calls this wine one of tension and generosity. A blend of fruit from Eileen, Louise and the Paul Gerrie vineyards, this wine spends 11 months in barrel and four to five months in stainless steel. Effusive florals lead the aromatic display with a bruised apple note and stony petrichor. The palate is honeyed and shows that tension as well, with Pacific-inspired salinity, chamomile and beeswax carrying the finish. DECANTER

What a pretty nose of white peaches, white lavender, hazelnuts and salted almonds. Full-bodied yet fresh, with sleek, salty layers. Excellent texture and complexity. JAMES SUCKLING

The 2021 Chardonnay Eola-Amity Hills is fresh and floral with notes of quince, yellow flowers, and honeycomb. Medium-bodied, with ripe golden fruit on the palate and fresh underlying acidity to balance things out nicely, it's drinking well now and will drink well over the next 4-6 years. JEB DUNNUCK

Cristom Marjorie Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021
Planted in 1982, the estate's oldest vines, this is a site that gives structure and length year in and year out. The aromatics flash savoury and mineral with crushed stone and green tea leaf alongside pine bough and a hint of tomato leaf all with a backing of crushed red berries. The palate shows great concentration to match its ample structure. Red fruits, savoury herbs and spice to match the aromatics. Clive Pursehouse DECANTER

  13. The Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Gris 2020
The Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Gris 2020
This is the bar by which many Willamette Valley producers measure their own Pinot Gris. Made with certified organic grapes, the wine’s pale moonbeam colour casts its glow on aromas of orange blossom honey, lemon verbena and a trace of vanilla. Flavours of honeycomb, lemon sorbet and white grapefruit complement a lithesome texture backed by acidity that packs a pop.
    MICHAEL ALBERTY, Decanter

The low-yielding but high-quality 2020 season gave fruit of a density and concentration, Jason Lett categorising it alongside the greats of 1988 and 1998. Hand-picked fruit was destemmed, pressed and fermented in stainless steel tank before resting for 11 months on lees before bottling.

  16. Evesham Wood Le Puits Sec Pinot Noir 2021
Evesham Wood Le Puits Sec Pinot Noir 2021
What a beauty! The 2021 Pinot Noir Le Puits Sec blossoms in the glass with a gorgeous mix of dusty violets and roses complemented by autumnal spice, giving way to citrus-tinged wild berries. This sweeps across the palate with finesse, lifted and ethereal, with shades of blue and purple inner florals accentuating dark red fruits. It finishes long and hauntingly floral with a tactile mineral crunch and coating of gently grippy tannins. For lovers of old-school Oregon Pinot, the 2021 is dreamy. ERCI GUIDO, Vinous Media

    OUTSTANDING -
An enticing nose offers up an array of floral nuances, red currant, green tea and a whiff of crushed mint. The delicious, energetic and well detailed, even silky, middle weight flavors terminate in a persistent, focused and balanced finale where a touch of dusty youthful austerity slowly emerges. This is not a seductive wine but its subtle and balanced and invites you back for sip after sip. BURGHOUND

Scented nose of spiced cherries, wild berries, sweet spices and a touch of bark. Medium-bodied with bright acidity and bright fruit character on the palate. Vivid and pure with a lively finish. Drink or hold. JAMES SUCKLING
